Commuters in Bhopal are set to benefit from faster and more frequent metro services as the Bhopal Metro new timings come into effect from July 25. Following approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for regular operations on both tracks between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) has announced a revised timetable featuring higher train frequency, expanded digital ticketing options, and discounted fares. The move is expected to improve connectivity for office-goers, students, patients, and railway passengers using the corridor.

CMRS Clears Operations

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has approved regular metro operations on both tracks, including the newly commissioned signalling system, between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS Station.

According to MPMRCL, the upgraded signalling infrastructure will ensure safer, smoother, and more punctual train operations while reducing waiting time for passengers.

New Schedule From July 25

Under the revised timetable, the first metro will depart Subhash Nagar at 9:00 am and AIIMS Station at 9:30 am.

The last train will leave Subhash Nagar at 6:30 pm, while the final service from AIIMS will depart at 7:00 pm.

During peak hours—from 9:00 am to 10:30 am and 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm—metro trains will operate at 15-minute intervals. During non-peak hours, services will be available every 30 minutes.

The corporation has planned 50 trips daily in both directions combined.

Benefit For Daily Commuters

The increased frequency is expected to provide major relief for regular commuters across the city.

According to MPMRCL Public Relations Officer Dheeraj Shukla, the revised schedule will particularly benefit office employees, students attending coaching institutes in MP Nagar, patients visiting AIIMS Bhopal, railway passengers using Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, and employees working in government offices such as Vallabh Bhavan, SBI, RBI, and other institutions.

Discounted Digital Tickets

Passengers can continue to purchase tickets through the MPMRCL mobile application, QR codes, UPI, e-wallets, and other cashless payment methods using the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system.

To encourage digital ticketing, MPMRCL is offering:

• 5% discount on return tickets
• 10% discount on group tickets
• 8% to 15% bonus on e-wallet recharge through the official mobile application

The discounts are aimed at making metro travel more affordable for frequent users.

Improved Station Facilities

Metro stations will also see operational improvements under the new arrangement.

Entry and exit gates at all operational stations will open 15 minutes before the first scheduled train, allowing passengers sufficient time for security checks and boarding.

Manual ticket counters will continue to function alongside digital ticketing facilities, ensuring convenient access for all commuters.

Towards Better Public Transport

MPMRCL said the revised timetable, enhanced signalling system, and improved train frequency mark another step towards strengthening Bhopal's urban transport network.

The corporation expects the upgraded operations to encourage greater use of public transport by offering a faster, safer, and more reliable commuting experience.
