The political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has heated up following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid the ongoing NEET paper leak controversy. Opposition leaders across the state have targeted the Central Government, calling the resignation a direct result of the relentless struggle by students and youth.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called the Minister's resignation a grand victory for young citizens. Taking a swipe at the government, he remarked:

"Our new generation stays awake at night, and seeing their collective strength, the Prime Minister was forced to deliver a speech late into the night. Seeing the power of the youth, they had to back down. However, this decision should have been taken much earlier."

Opposition Leaders Launch Scathing Attack: 'A Warning to the Government'

Following the Minister's resignation, various opposition leaders jointly criticized the Union Government, describing the move as a moral victory for students against government policies.

Pallavi Patel (MLA, Apna Dal Kamerawadi)

"What no political party could achieve, the young and determined students of this nation have accomplished. Those who looted the future of our youth were forced to resign. This stands as a clear warning to the government not to test the patience of the youth. Had the students stayed on the streets for a few more days, both the government and the entire system would have changed."

Ajay Rai (UP Congress President)

"The BJP government tried to suppress the truth through police lathi-charges, teargas, and repression, but ultimately had to bow down before the determination of the youth. This victory belongs to the lakhs of hardworking students who stood firm on the streets night after night for their future. Our leader Rahul Gandhi and every Congress worker stood shoulder to shoulder with them and will continue to do so. Now, our demand is clear—there must be a deep investigation into this entire system, and no culprit playing with the youth's future should be spared."

Irfan Solanki & Nasim Solanki (SP Leaders)

Former SP MLA Irfan Solanki stated that the month-long protest in Delhi proved that truth can be troubled, but never defeated. Meanwhile, Sishamau SP MLA Nasim Solanki saluted the patience of the protesting students' parents, adding that the youth succeeded in bringing education and employment issues to the forefront of the government's agenda.

Widespread Student Protests Across UP Cities

Along with political reactions, agitation intensified across key educational hubs in Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of students took to the streets in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Meerut.

In Prayagraj, despite torrential rainfall, over 10,000 students gathered under the banner of various student groups and the 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP). Students clapped, beat utensils, and danced to drumbeats to register their protest. Tensions flared during the demonstration, resulting in an MP-labeled Fortuner SUV being overturned.

Protesting students maintained that a single resignation is not enough—the movement will continue until the credibility of the entire examination system is restored and strict legal action is taken against paper leak mafias.
