New Delhi: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday held a virtual review meeting with Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan to assess the implementation of key healthcare programmes and strengthen coordination between the Centre and the state in the health sector.

The meeting focused on the progress of major public health initiatives being implemented in Kerala, including the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Free Drugs Service Initiative, Free Diagnostic Service Initiative, and healthcare human resource development under the National Health Mission (NHM).

Officials reviewed the status of healthcare delivery systems in the state and discussed measures aimed at improving access to affordable and quality healthcare services. Medical education, drug regulation, blood bank management, and food safety standards were also among the key issues taken up during the deliberations.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the discussion emphasized the need to strengthen health infrastructure, ensure the availability of essential medicines and diagnostic facilities, and enhance the efficiency of public healthcare institutions. The meeting also explored ways to improve healthcare manpower and support capacity-building efforts across various levels of the health system.

Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan briefed the Union Minister on the progress of ongoing health programmes in the state. He highlighted measures being undertaken by the state government to improve healthcare delivery and expand access to medical services.

The state minister also outlined certain challenges faced in implementing health initiatives and identified areas where additional support from the Centre could help accelerate progress. He reiterated Kerala’s commitment to working closely with the Union government to achieve national public health goals and improve healthcare outcomes for citizens.

Healthcare cooperation between the Centre and states has remained a key focus area as governments work to strengthen disease surveillance, improve primary healthcare networks, and expand access to critical medical services. Regular review meetings are considered important for monitoring programme implementation and addressing operational challenges.

During the interaction, Nadda appreciated the efforts made by the Kerala government in implementing various health schemes and public welfare programmes. He noted that effective execution of healthcare initiatives requires continuous monitoring, timely interventions, and strong coordination between different levels of government.

The Union Minister also assured the state of the Centre’s continued support in strengthening Kerala’s healthcare ecosystem. He stressed that collaborative efforts between the Union and state governments are essential to ensuring better health outcomes and building a resilient public health system capable of meeting future challenges.

Officials discussed the importance of improving healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved areas, while ensuring that quality standards are maintained across medical institutions. The role of regulatory mechanisms in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and food safety was also highlighted as part of efforts to enhance public trust in healthcare services.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the public health system and ensuring that citizens have access to affordable, equitable and high-quality healthcare services. Officials said continued engagement between the Centre and states would remain critical for achieving long-term health objectives and improving overall healthcare delivery across the country.

15 Fertiliser Ships Cross Hormuz Safely, India Strengthens Fertiliser Stocks Amid Supply Chain Challenges

New Delhi: India has received a major boost to its fertiliser supply chain after 15 ships carrying fertilisers and key raw materials safely crossed the strategically important Hormuz Strait, despite recent disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia. The development is expected to significantly strengthen the country’s fertiliser reserves ahead of upcoming agricultural seasons.

According to the government, the vessels are transporting fertilisers and critical raw materials under scheduled delivery plans, ensuring uninterrupted supplies to India. Officials said the arrival of these shipments at Indian ports will substantially improve domestic stock levels and support the country’s agricultural requirements.

The government highlighted that despite challenges to maritime traffic in the Hormuz Strait during the recent regional conflict, coordinated planning, continuous monitoring and timely interventions helped maintain the flow of essential fertiliser imports. Authorities also expanded procurement efforts by securing supplies from multiple countries, further reinforcing India’s fertiliser supply network.

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers J.P. Nadda said global supply chains faced severe disruptions due to the conflict in West Asia, leading to rising fertiliser prices and longer delivery timelines worldwide. He noted that India was not immune to these challenges but managed to address potential shortages through proactive measures and strategic planning under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The government also credited India’s diplomatic network for supporting supply diversification efforts. As many as 28 Indian missions abroad, including embassies and high commissions, worked closely with potential producers and suppliers to facilitate timely fertiliser availability.

For urea imports, India secured arrangements with countries including Oman, Malaysia, Vietnam, Georgia, Nigeria, Russia, Finland, Egypt, Algeria, Türkiye and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, supplies of DAP and NPK fertilisers were coordinated through the Red Sea route from Russia, Morocco, Egypt, the United States, Jordan, South Korea, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

Officials said the 15 ships currently en route or arriving in India include eight vessels carrying 3.32 lakh metric tonnes of urea, four ships transporting 2.57 lakh metric tonnes of DAP and three vessels carrying 1.11 lakh metric tonnes of sulphur. In addition, five more ships have been scheduled for India. These include consignments of ammonia, urea and sulphur that are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Alongside imports, domestic fertiliser production has also recorded strong growth. The availability of natural gas for fertiliser plants, which had temporarily declined to around 65 per cent, has now returned to full capacity. As a result, all urea manufacturing units across the country are operating at maximum production levels.

Government data showed that urea production exceeded targets in each of the first three months of the 2026-27 financial year. During the April-June quarter, total urea production reached 71.55 lakh metric tonnes against a target of 67.86 lakh metric tonnes, surpassing the goal by 3.69 lakh metric tonnes.

DAP production also outperformed expectations during the quarter. Total output stood at 9.84 lakh metric tonnes compared to the target of 8.61 lakh metric tonnes, registering an excess production of 1.23 lakh metric tonnes. Domestic production of NPK fertilisers reached 20.77 lakh metric tonnes, while SSP output stood at 13.50 lakh metric tonnes during the same period.

The combined impact of increased imports and higher domestic production has helped maintain adequate fertiliser availability across the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, India has already secured 197.56 lakh metric tonnes of fertiliser stocks against an estimated annual requirement of 383.9 lakh metric tonnes, representing more than 51 per cent of projected demand.

Officials said the current inventory position is expected to ensure smooth fertiliser availability for farmers and support agricultural activities throughout the upcoming crop seasons.

BJP Hands Key Post to Ex-Congress Lok Sabha Candidate Mona Sustani in MP Women's Front Overhaul

Former Rajgarh contestant joins the saffron party's state executive as General Secretary; the new committee includes seven vice presidents and eight state ministers drawn from across Madhya Pradesh.

A Surprise Elevation

In a move that has set political circles buzzing in Madhya Pradesh, Mona Sustani — who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket — has been appointed General Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha's state executive committee. The announcement came on Saturday when State President Advocate Ashwini Paranjape Rajwade unveiled the newly constituted team, pulling in women representatives from districts spread across the length and breadth of the state.

The appointment is being read as a signal of the party's intent to reward those who have crossed over from the opposition and demonstrated organisational commitment.

Congress Roots, Saffron Future

Sustani's political biography is anything but linear. Her father-in-law, Gulabsingh Sustani, won two terms as an MLA from the Rajgarh Assembly segment and served for an extended period as chairman of MP Agro under the Digvijay Singh government. Mona herself was a prominent voice in the Digvijay Singh faction within Congress — a background that makes her current placement in the BJP's women's wing all the more politically significant.

She has previously held elected posts at the zila panchayat and janpad panchayat levels, giving her ground-level administrative experience ahead of her organisational role.

Defeat That Preceded a Switch

In the 2019 general elections, Sustani contested from Rajgarh parliamentary constituency on a Congress ticket and lost to BJP's Rodmal Nagar by a margin exceeding two lakh votes. A year after that electoral setback, she formally joined the BJP at an event in Bhopal where then-party National President JP Nadda presided over her induction in March 2023.

Since switching sides, Sustani has remained active at the grassroots level through an organisation called Lalchunar, running campaigns against the Natra tradition in the Rajgarh region for the past five years.

New Executive Takes Shape

The fresh executive unveiled by Paranjape Rajwade reflects a deliberate push for geographic spread, with office-bearers drawn from Gwalior, Panna, Dewas, Shahdol, Barwani, Ashoknagar and Sagar among other districts.

Seven women have been elevated to the post of Vice President: Neelima Shinde (Gwalior), Asha Gupta (Panna), Maya Patel (Dewas), Shalini Sarawagi (Shahdol), Advocate Anjana Patel (Barwani), Vibha Srivastava (Ashoknagar), and Dr Yakriti Jadiya (Sagar).

Eight women have been named State Ministers within the Morcha: Shashi Patel (Mandla), Khushboo Gupta (Gwalior), Reena Dandotiya (Morena), Mamta Malviya (Betul), Dr Anjali Rayzada (Gwalior), Charulata Yadav (Khandwa), Seema Jaiswal (Singrauli) and Pramila Yadav (Ujjain).

Financial and Administrative Backbone

On the administrative side, CA Nidhi Bang of Indore has been named Treasurer. Archana Agrawal (Jabalpur) and Purnima Tiwari (Rewa) will serve as Co-Treasurers. Bhavna Singh (Bhopal) takes charge as Office Secretary, supported by co-secretaries Vimla Tiwari (Bhopal) and Lalita Purtiya (Narmadapuram).

Communications and Research Portfolio

The new team places clear emphasis on outreach. Harsha Thakur (Khandwa) has been named Media In-charge, with Priyasha Urmaliya (Satna) as Co-Media In-charge. Smriti Jain (Narsinghpur) will handle Social Media, assisted by Sarika Upadhyay (Gwalior) and Advocate Gayatri Singh Thakur (Bhopal). Sudha Sukhyani (Indore) leads IT, with Rashmi Pandey (Bhopal) and Kiran Bhadoria (Gwalior) as co-in-charges.

On the policy and research front, Dr Sakshi Bhardwaj (Bhopal) has been given charge, supported by Suman Singh (Sidhi) and Indu Chaudhary (Sagar). Training responsibilities go to Shivani Adsapurkar (Indore City), with Dr Vandana Arya (Narsinghpur) and Chetna Sharma (Shajapur) assisting.

What This Signals

According to party sources, the expansion of the Women's Front executive in Madhya Pradesh is part of a broader BJP effort to widen its female leadership base ahead of future electoral cycles. Sustani's appointment, in particular, is being viewed as a message to potential defectors from Congress that organisational rewards await those who commit to the party structure.

The new team's geographic diversity — spanning Singrauli in the east to Barwani in the west — suggests the Morcha intends to build a presence well beyond its traditional urban and semi-urban strongholds, a development that carries weight in a state where Madhya Pradesh BJP news has increasingly centred on rural outreach and women's representation as strategic priorities.

Nitin Nabin Net Worth: BJP New President’s ₹50 Lakh Bank Balance, Gold, Cars Revealed – Richer Than You Think?

Nitin Nabin net worth exposed: ₹50 lakh bank balance, ₹30L SBI FD, 2 cars worth ₹38L, but ₹56L liabilities. How does it stack up vs JP Nadda? Latest BJP leadership update.

In the whirlwind of Indian politics, the appointment of Nitin Nabin as the new BJP president has sparked massive curiosity. Just hours ago, details from his 2025 Bihar Assembly election affidavit surfaced, revealing Nitin Nabin net worth at around ₹31.49 lakh (excluding loans). With ₹50 lakh bank balance, gold holdings, and two cars, is this rising leader from Bihar as modest as he seems? As BJP eyes 2026 polls, his finances offer a fresh lens on leadership transitions.

Nitin Nabin's Assets: A Closer Look

Nabin, the Bankipur MLA, boasts impressive liquid wealth. His Nitin Nabin bank balance totals ₹49.48 lakh across SBI (₹11.86 lakh), Bank of Baroda (₹89,823), and ICICI Bank (₹6.71 lakh). Add a ₹30 lakh fixed deposit with SBI, and cash at home is a modest ₹35,000.

Cars steal the show: A 2016 Mahindra Scorpio (₹12 lakh) and a 2022 Toyota Innova Crysta (₹25 lakh), totaling ₹38 lakh. No personal land or houses in his name, but his wife's plots are worth ₹1.47 crore—excluded from his BJP president assets per Election Commission rules. Gold details remain sparse, yet liabilities hit ₹56.66 lakh, painting a net picture of calculated finances.

This matters now amid BJP leadership change. Nabin steps into JP Nadda's shoes post-2025 Bihar polls, signaling a youth infusion. His profile screams relatability for middle-class voters.

JP Nadda Net Worth Comparison: The Stark Gap

Outgoing president JP Nadda net worth stood at ₹3.21 crore in 2022 (per myneta.info), boosted by ₹1.65 crore in personal properties. Nabin's lower figure? It's wife's assets aside. Include them, and his wealth surges past ₹1.8 crore. Experts like political analyst Rajiv Singh note: "Nabin's self-declared modesty aligns with BJP's 'aam aadmi' branding, vital for northern India gains."

Why Nitin Nabin Net Worth Buzzes in 2026 Politics

This reveal isn't gossip—it's a trust barometer. In an era of wealth scrutiny (think Adani rows), Nabin's ₹50 lakh bank balance and cars signal aspiration without excess. Actionable takeaway: Aspiring politicians, file transparent affidavits early. For voters, it underscores BJP's strategy: Blend OBC roots with fiscal prudence.

As Nabin leads into 2027, expect his finances to fuel debates. Modest on paper, strategic in reality—BJP's new face is battle-ready.
