Aparaa, one of Indian television's most recognised faces, spoke candidly about the emotional breakdown of her marriage while appearing on a podcast. According to the actress, the turning point came in 2003 while she was working in the United States.

She said it was their wedding anniversary when she called Darshan Jariwala from the US. After returning to India following her work schedule, she met him at home, where he allegedly told her that he no longer loved her and wanted to end their marriage.

Recalling the conversation, Aparaa claimed that her husband told her he no longer found her attractive and described her as "the world's ugliest woman." She said the remark left her stunned, especially because it came while he was calmly sitting and having tea.

Despite the emotional shock, Aparaa continued with her professional commitments and reported for work the following morning. She initially believed the harsh words might have been spoken in anger, but she later realised the relationship had effectively come to an end after Darshan moved out of their home.

The actress also reflected on one of the most frightening moments of her career, which occurred during the height of her popularity following several successful television shows and Gujarati theatre productions.

She recalled attending a Gujarati stage performance in Kolkata, where thousands of fans had gathered. According to Aparaa, the audience became uncontrollable after spotting her. She said people surrounded her, pulled her through the crowd, attempted to snatch her diamond ring, touched her inappropriately and even burned her with a lit cigarette.

The actress described the situation as chaotic, adding that security personnel eventually formed a protective circle to escort her away from the crowd. Looking back, she said she was too overwhelmed at the time to fully process what had happened.

Aparaa Mehta remains one of the most respected names in Indian television. She is best known for portraying Savita Virani in the iconic television serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a role that made her a household name across the country.

Over a career spanning nearly five decades, she has appeared in numerous television serials, Gujarati stage productions and Hindi films.
