A heartwarming story of kindness between an Uber passenger and a driver has gone viral on social media after the passenger rewarded the driver with a ₹2,000 tip for completing a difficult journey during heavy rain and severe waterlogging.

The passenger said the driver refused to cancel the ride despite challenging weather conditions and safely dropped the family home after navigating flooded roads.

Driver Stayed Despite Heavy Rain

According to a post shared on X, the passenger had booked an Uber while heavy rain was disrupting traffic. Travelling with his mother, he requested the driver not to cancel the booking, fearing it would be difficult to find another cab.

The driver, identified as Suresh, reportedly accepted the ride and remained in contact with the passenger for nearly 20 minutes to locate the pickup point. When directions became difficult, he requested the location through WhatsApp before finally reaching them.

One-Hour Journey for Six Kilometres

The passenger said the journey became extremely challenging because several roads were submerged.

At some locations, floodwater reportedly reached close to the bonnet of the driver's Ertiga. Despite the conditions, the driver continued carefully and safely transported the passenger and his parents home.

Although the destination was only about six kilometres away, the journey took nearly one hour because of traffic congestion and waterlogged roads.

₹279 Fare, ₹2,000 Tip

The ride fare came to ₹279, but the passenger decided to tip the driver ₹2,000 in appreciation of his patience, professionalism and commitment.

Describing Suresh as a "gem of a human being," the passenger said the tip was not merely a financial reward but a gesture of respect for someone who fulfilled his responsibility under extremely difficult circumstances.
