Administrative action may soon be initiated against Mauganj Additional District Magistrate (ADM) P.K. Pandeyin connection with the alleged hostel scam that has remained under scrutiny in Rewa. The development comes after Rewa Collector Narendra Suryavanshi forwarded a proposal to the Divisional Commissioner recommending action against the senior officer following findings during the departmental inquiry.

The move has revived attention on the alleged financial irregularities related to repairs and procurement in hostels operated under the Tribal Welfare Department.

Inquiry Focused on Hostel Expenditure

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in hostel maintenance works and the purchase of materials. According to the complaint filed by Kamal Singh Baghel, payments amounting to lakhs of rupees were allegedly released for repair works that were never executed at several hostels.

The complaint also raised allegations regarding irregularities in the procurement of electrical fittings, ceiling fans and other materials meant for hostel facilities.

Departmental Probe Found Irregularities

Following the complaint, departmental authorities examined records and verified expenditure related to hostel repairs and procurement. During the inquiry, officials reportedly found discrepancies at multiple stages of the financial transactions.

Earlier in the investigation, Vikas Tiwari, a clerk posted in the Tribal Welfare Department, had already been placed under suspension in connection with the same case.

Role Under Scanner

Officials said the alleged irregularities occurred during the period when P.K. Pandey was holding additional charge as the District Coordinator of the Tribal Welfare Department.

A show-cause notice had reportedly been issued to Pandey during the inquiry. However, according to officials, the explanation submitted by him was not found satisfactory after examination.

Collector Recommends Action

After reviewing the inquiry findings and related documents, Collector Narendra Suryavanshi sent a formal proposal to the Commissioner recommending action against the officer under the applicable service rules.

The recommendation marks the latest administrative development in the high-profile hostel scam investigation, which has remained pending for a considerable period.

Further Decision Awaited

With the proposal now before the Commissioner, the matter will proceed through the prescribed administrative process. The final decision regarding disciplinary action will be taken after examination by the competent authority.

The case continues to draw attention due to allegations involving public funds earmarked for the welfare of tribal students residing in government hostels.
