Madhya Pradesh’s renewable-energy capacity has increased from 438 MW to more than 11,000 MW over the past 12 years, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said.

Addressing the International Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition in New Delhi, Yadav presented Madhya Pradesh as an emerging destination for investment in solar, wind, biomass and energy-storage projects.

The figures represent an increase of nearly 25 times, according to the Chief Minister.

Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was focusing not only on expanding generation capacity but also on providing reliable renewable power through storage and grid-management projects.

Rewa Project Set an Early Benchmark

The Chief Minister highlighted the 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Project, which supplies electricity to Madhya Pradesh and the Delhi Metro.

He also referred to the 1,500 MW Agar-Shajapur-Neemuch solar programme, which achieved a tariff of ₹2.14 per unit and supplies renewable power to Indian Railways operations across several states.

The state has introduced policies covering renewable energy, pumped-hydro storage and biomass during the past two years to attract investment.

Madhya Pradesh is also installing rooftop solar systems with a combined capacity of 48 MW across approximately 1,300 government buildings. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, rooftop systems totalling around 566 MW have reportedly been installed at nearly 1.5 lakh homes in the state.

The next test will be the commissioning of announced projects, development of transmission infrastructure and creation of local employment linked to equipment manufacturing, installation and maintenance.
