Free CBSE AI Classes Begin August 15: Students and Teachers Can Join IIT Gandhinagar’s ‘3030 Eklavya’ Series

The eight-session online programme is open to students and teachers of Class 6 and above, with free compulsory registration and live Hindi sessions followed by English subtitles.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, in collaboration with the Centre for Creative Learning at IIT Gandhinagar, will launch a free online series on computational thinking, artificial intelligence and STEM from August 15.

Named “3030 Eklavya”, the voluntary programme is designed for students and teachers of Class 6 and above. It will use inquiry-based activities to build logical thinking, pattern recognition, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

Registration is free but compulsory for participation. CBSE has asked affiliated schools to encourage eligible teachers and students to take advantage of the programme.

When Will the Classes Begin?

The first live episode, “Computational Thinking and AI with Matchboxes,” will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 15. Subsequent episodes are scheduled to stream live every Sunday from 4 pm.

The programme will contain eight sessions in total. Live episodes will be conducted in Hindi, while the published versions will carry English subtitles.

Participants can register and view programme details at the official 3030 Eklavya portal operated by IIT Gandhinagar’s Centre for Creative Learning.

What Will Students Learn?

The series aims to make AI and computational thinking understandable through practical activities rather than treating them only as advanced coding topics.

CBSE says the sessions will promote:

Logical and computational thinking.

Problem-solving and pattern recognition.

A practical understanding of AI in everyday life.

Inquiry-based learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Critical thinking and creative approaches to unfamiliar problems.

The programme follows CBSE’s curriculum framework for computational thinking and AI for Classes 3 to 8. The Board has also selected “Computational Thinking and Understanding Artificial Intelligence” as a teacher-training theme for the 2026–27 academic session.

Registration Is Free; Certificates Carry a Fee

Joining the programme does not require a registration fee. However, participants seeking a certificate after completing homework or assignments will have to pay ₹200 plus taxes for the eight-episode course.

For teachers in CBSE-affiliated schools, each completed episode can count as three continuing professional development hours under school-based training, subject to earning the certificate and meeting the programme’s database requirements.

The certificate of competency is intended for teachers who complete all eight sessions and fulfil the prescribed conditions. A participation certificate is available to eligible students and teachers under the programme’s stated terms.

How to Register

Students and teachers can register at eklavya.iitgandhinagar.ac.in. The circular also lists an official email address and telephone helpline for programme-related questions.

With AI entering school curricula at younger ages, the series gives families and educators a low-cost way to explore the subject before committing to private courses. The distinction is important: participation is free, while certification is optional and paid.
