Bhopal received relief after four days of intense rain, but the weather office has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and isolated heavy showers across the city and Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal witnessed a noticeable reduction in rainfall activity on Thursday after four consecutive nights of heavy showers disrupted normal life across the city.

The break brought relief to residents after persistent rain affected roads and low-lying areas. However, weather conditions remain unsettled, with the regional meteorological office forecasting further rain and thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms Likely Friday

The weather office has forecast cloudy skies over Bhopal on Friday, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and rain.

Officials have also warned that some parts of the city could receive heavy rainfall. Residents have been advised to remain alert, particularly during periods of lightning and intense weather activity.

The forecast suggests that the improvement seen on Thursday may remain temporary as monsoon systems continue to influence the region.

Multiple Weather Systems Active

According to the meteorological office, several weather systems are currently affecting Madhya Pradesh.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. The system extends up to around 5.8 km above mean sea level and tilts southwards.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level also remains active, extending through Firozpur, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki and Dehri.

Depression Influences Weather

A depression was positioned over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Bangladesh and the northwest Bay of Bengal. The system extended up to about 1.5 km above mean sea level.

These systems are contributing to the prevailing unstable weather conditions across parts of central India.

The combination of the cyclonic circulation, active monsoon trough and the depression could sustain rainfall activity in several districts over the coming days.

Heavy Rain Warning Issued

The meteorological office has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in several Madhya Pradesh districts.

Shivpuri, Sheopur, Anuppur, Shahdol, Balaghat and Chhatarpur are among the areas identified for the possibility of heavy showers.

Other parts of the state may also experience thunderstorms, lightning and periods of rain as weather systems continue to move and evolve.

Bhopal Weather Outlook

For Bhopal, the immediate forecast points to cloudy conditions with intermittent rain and thunderstorms. While Thursday offered residents a break from the prolonged downpour, the possibility of renewed showers remains.

The city’s recent rainfall spell had affected daily activities and created difficult conditions on several roads. Any fresh spell of intense rain could again cause waterlogging in vulnerable locations.
