Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan will visit Tamil Nadu on August 16-17, attending academic, commemorative and literary events across four districts.

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan will begin a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu on Sunday, August 16, with a packed schedule covering academic, commemorative and literary programmes in Chengalpattu, Chennai, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur.

During the Tamil Nadu visit, Radhakrishnan will attend university convocations and public events, including the 22nd Convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology at Kattankulathur and the 11th Convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu. He will also participate in a memorial programme and a book release in Chennai.

SRM Convocation On Sunday

Radhakrishnan’s first major engagement will be the 22nd Convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) at Kattankulathur in Chengalpattu.

The Vice-President will participate in the academic ceremony and address students and graduates at the institution.

The visit places higher education at the centre of his first day in the state, with the convocation providing an opportunity to interact with students entering professional and academic careers.

Memorial Programme In Chennai

After the Chengalpattu programme, Radhakrishnan will travel to Chennai for the first death anniversary programme of La. Ganesan, who served as Governor of Nagaland, Manipur and West Bengal.

The function will take place at Vani Mahal in T Nagar.

Ganesan was a senior political figure from Tamil Nadu and a former governor of several states. The Vice-President’s participation will mark the anniversary programme as part of his scheduled engagements in the state.

Book Release Also Scheduled

Radhakrishnan will later attend the release of Echoes of a Nationalist Mind in Chennai.

The book draws on the thoughts and writings of K. Ramagopalan, founder of Hindu Munnani. The release programme will take place at the D.G. Vaishnava College Auditorium.

The event forms the literary component of the Vice-President’s first day in Tamil Nadu, alongside his academic and commemorative engagements.

Thiruvarur Programme Monday

The second day of the visit will take Radhakrishnan to Thiruvarur.

He is scheduled to attend the 11th Convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu. The university, located at Neelakudi near Thiruvarur, will host the Vice-President for the academic ceremony.

His participation will again focus on higher education and the role of universities in preparing students for professional and public life.

SASTRA Event In Thanjavur

After the Thiruvarur programme, Radhakrishnan will travel to Thanjavur for the Ruby and Silver Jubilee Valedictory Celebrations of SASTRA Deemed University.

The university is marking milestones associated with its institutional journey, with the Vice-President scheduled to participate in the concluding celebrations.

The two-day itinerary therefore combines university events with cultural and commemorative programmes across northern, central and southern parts of Tamil Nadu.

Visit Covers Four Districts

The itinerary covers Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur, giving Radhakrishnan engagements across multiple parts of the state.

The visit also comes immediately after Independence Day, when the Vice-President interacted with school students from Delhi and Ghaziabad as part of the celebrations. He emphasised the role of young people in nation-building and the development of a Viksit Bharat.

Focus On Education

Radhakrishnan’s schedule gives particular importance to educational institutions, with two university convocations forming the central engagements on consecutive days.

The visit will provide opportunities to interact with students, faculty members and academic communities in Tamil Nadu. It also brings the Vice-President to a state with which he has a long political association.

Radhakrishnan previously represented Coimbatore in the Lok Sabha and served as Tamil Nadu BJP president before holding gubernatorial assignments in Jharkhand, Telangana and Maharashtra.

The two-day Tamil Nadu visit will conclude on August 17 after the SASTRA Deemed University programme in Thanjavur, completing an itinerary centred on education, public remembrance and literary engagement.
