The Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in Raipur has cancelled the BSc Agriculture second-year Entomology examination following a complaint of question-paper leakage. Around 1,200 students have been affected, while Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has assured strict action against those found responsible.

Paper Surfaced Before Exam

The Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) in Raipur cancelled the second-year BSc Agriculture Entomology examination after images of the question paper reportedly began circulating on WhatsApp around two hours before the scheduled examination on August 20.

The university received information about the alleged leak and subsequently decided to cancel the examination to protect the fairness and integrity of the evaluation process.

The examination was related to AENT-221, covering pest management in crops and stored grains, including Rabi crops.

70 Percent Questions Matched

According to a university-linked official cited in reports, the paper circulating on social media was not an exact copy of the actual examination paper.

However, around 70 per cent of the questions were reportedly found to be similar to those in the original examination paper.

The similarity prompted the university administration to cancel the examination and initiate an investigation into how the paper reached social media before the scheduled test.

1,200 Students Affected

According to reports, around 1,200 students from 27 agricultural colleges across Chhattisgarh were expected to appear for the examination.

With the examination cancelled, the affected students will have to appear for a fresh test.

The university is expected to communicate details about the rescheduled examination through the concerned colleges and its official notifications.

Students have been advised to monitor official updates regarding the new examination schedule.

Committee To Investigate Leak

A probe committee has been constituted to investigate the alleged question-paper leak.

The investigation is expected to determine how the paper left the university's examination system, how it reached students before the examination and whether anyone associated with the examination process was involved.

There is, however, a discrepancy in available reports regarding the size of the committee. One report describes it as a five-member committee, while another refers to a four-member panel. The final composition should therefore be confirmed through an official university or government order.

Exam Likely In September

According to information issued to affiliated colleges, the cancelled examination is expected to be conducted again in the first week of September 2026.

The exact date of the re-examination has not yet been officially confirmed.

The university's formal communication reportedly cited administrative reasons for cancelling the examination, while reports linked the decision to the complaint regarding the leaked paper and the similarity between the circulated questions and the actual examination paper.

CM Assures Strict Action

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has assured strict action against anyone found responsible for the incident.

The chief minister said the examination had been cancelled and an investigation was underway. Those found responsible after the inquiry would face appropriate action.

The investigation will now be crucial in establishing the source of the leaked paper and determining whether any university official, employee or outsider was involved.

Questions Over Exam Security

The incident has raised concerns over the security and transparency of the university's examination system.

Students who had prepared for the test will now have to sit for another examination, adding to their academic burden.

The key focus of the investigation will be to establish where the question paper was accessed, how it was circulated before the examination and whether there was any breach of internal examination procedures.

For now, the Entomology examination stands cancelled, with a fresh test expected in the first week of September. Further action will depend on the findings of the probe committee and the evidence gathered during the investigation.
