Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed security arrangements around the strategically vital Siliguri Corridor in West Bengal on Saturday and called for stronger coordination among central security forces, intelligence agencies and the state administration.

The meeting, held at Sukna near Siliguri, focused on strengthening surveillance and security along India's eastern borders. Senior officials of the Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), West Bengal Police and central intelligence agencies participated in the discussions.

The narrow Siliguri Corridor, popularly known as the “Chicken's Neck”, provides the principal land connection between the northeastern states and the rest of India.

Shah held the security meeting on the third and final day of his West Bengal visit. Officials said the discussions centred on strengthening arrangements along the country's eastern frontier, particularly around the Siliguri Corridor.
