Enid Blyton's cherished children's classic is finally making its way to the big screen. 'The Magic Faraway Tree' is set to arrive in Indian cinemas on September 4, 2026, distributed by PVRINOX Pictures. The film had its UK release on March 27 and hits US theaters on August 21.

Led by two-time Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge, Tick, Tick...Boom!) and Claire Foy (The Crown), the ensemble cast features Nonso Anozie as Moonface, Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) as Silky, Emmy winner Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot, Jennifer Saunders as Grandma, and Rebecca Ferguson as the formidable Dame Snap.

Garfield, who plays Tim in the film, says the story's message feels particularly relevant in an increasingly screen-driven world. "I think people are craving connection and community and a kind of reconnection to the earth and to each other," Garfield said. The actor, who immediately connected with Simon Farnaby's screenplay, added: "I really just adore his sense of whimsy and heartfeltness and magic and joy".

The film follows a modern family who relocate to the countryside, where three children stumble upon an ancient, towering tree inhabited by eccentric characters. With every climb, the tree transports them to a brand-new fantastical land. "There's magic in the ordinary," Garfield said, summing up one of the film's central ideas. The sequel swaps the dizzying heights of a deserted television tower for the treacherous mountains of Thailand. The official synopsis reads: "Overwhelmed by her sister Hunter's death, Jax (Harriet Slater) connects with Luce (Arsema Thomas), Hunter's fearless friend. To heal, they attempt the infamous plank walk of Mount Kwan in Thailand. After a sudden rockslide leaves them stranded on a fragile plank 3000 feet in the air, Jax must confront her deepest fears and fight for survival to find closure".

Harriet Slater (Outlander: Blood of My Blood) stars alongside Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) and Tom Brittney (Grantchester). The Spierig brothers – Michael and Peter (Predestination, Jigsaw) – direct from a script by Scott Mann (who directed the original) and Jonathan Frank.

The film is rated PG-13 for "strong language, some violent content/bloody images and drug material". The original Fall turned a modest $3 million budget into a $21 million global box office success, largely driven by its intense, minimalist premise. The sequel appears to be expanding the franchise's scope while maintaining the nerve-shredding tension that made the original a streaming sensation.
