Security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri sector have been placed on high alert after an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from the Pakistan side was detected near the Behrooti area, according to Army sources cited by ANI.

The drone movement was detected at around 8:05 pm on August 28, with troops tracking the UAV as it moved towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis. The development has prompted tighter aerial and ground surveillance across the forward areas.

Drone Detected Near Behrooti

According to Army inputs, the UAV was spotted hovering over the general area of Behrooti, which falls under the operational area of responsibility of the 22 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.

Troops monitoring the LoC detected the aerial movement and tracked its direction of travel.

The incident comes amid continued security concerns along the Rajouri-Poonch belt, where security forces have remained alert to possible cross-border infiltration and drone activity.

Mangalnar-Dabrote Axis Tracked

After being detected over Behrooti, the drone was tracked as it manoeuvred towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis.

The Army has not publicly disclosed the exact type of UAV involved or how far it travelled inside Indian territory.

According to officials cited by local media, Indian troops activated counter-drone systems after detecting the aerial objects, following which the drones returned across the LoC. A search operation was subsequently launched in the area.

The Behrooti incident reported by ANI is a separate detection and should not be automatically combined with that earlier episode.

Search Operation Continues

Security forces have intensified searches in areas adjoining the suspected drone route.

The objective is to ensure that no suspicious material or other signs of an attempted cross-border operation remain undetected.
