BJP national president Nitin Nabin chaired a key meeting at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss the party’s youth outreach strategy, with a focus on understanding the concerns and aspirations of young Indians.Around 45 leaders from across the country were brought together for the meeting. Two to three leaders from each state were invited, including Union ministers, MPs, former MPs, former ministers and other senior party leaders with experience of engaging with young voters.The discussions focused on identifying the challenges facing young people and finding better ways for the BJP to communicate and engage with the younger generation. The initiative comes as the party seeks to strengthen its connect with Gen Z and other young voters.

Key leaders attend meeting

Among those associated with the meeting were Union ministers Kamlesh Paswan and Raksha Khadse, former Union minister Anurag Thakur, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, former Mumbai MP Poonam Mahajan and former Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde. BJP general secretary Harish Dwivedi is coordinating the exercise, according to reports.The meeting is part of the BJP’s broader effort to develop fresh ideas for connecting with young Indians. The party has recently placed greater emphasis on direct youth engagement and digital communication.

BJP steps up Gen Z outreach

The latest meeting follows the BJP’s recent push to strengthen its “Yuva Samvad” initiative. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier urged the party’s newly appointed office-bearers to remain active on social media and use digital platforms to engage more effectively with young people.The party has also been working on dedicated teams for youth outreach, with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha expected to help mobilise the teams. The proposed outreach is aimed at people aged 14 and above, covering Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

Focus ahead of upcoming elections

The renewed focus on young voters comes ahead of several Assembly elections, including those in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. The BJP has been discussing new approaches to strengthen its grassroots presence and connect with voters in these states.The youth outreach exercise is therefore not limited to organisational activities. It is also part of the party’s wider effort to understand changing voter preferences and develop communication strategies suited to a younger, increasingly digital electorate.
