As many as 19 people have been killed in Raipur in the 221 days since the commissionerate system came into effect, according to the crime figures cited in a report based on police records. Financial and family disputes among cases

Several killings reported during March and April were linked to personal or financial disputes.

May double murder in Pandri

On the night of May 5, a dispute involving Jitendra Verma and his wife reportedly escalated in Mowa under Pandri police station limits. Verma allegedly opened fire on his two sisters-in-law, Geetanjali and Durgeshwari.

Geetanjali died at the spot, while Durgeshwari succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Police registered two murder cases in connection with the incident.

Three killings reported in June and July
