Long hours in front of screens are taking a toll on India’s IT workforce. From stiff necks to lower back pain, desk-related health issues have become common in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. But a growing number of professionals are fighting back with short, effective desk exercises that require no gym or equipment.

Experts recommend simple moves that can be done between meetings. “Five to ten minutes of movement every hour can reduce stiffness and improve focus,” says physiotherapist Dr. Ananya Rao from Bengaluru. Popular exercises include seated spinal twists, shoulder rolls, wrist stretches, and standing calf raises.

Many companies now encourage micro-breaks. Employees share routines on internal chats and Instagram Reels, turning wellness into a workplace trend. The best part? These exercises fit easily into the Indian work-from-home or hybrid schedule and cost nothing.

For beginners, start with three moves: neck side stretches, seated cat-cow, and ankle circles. Consistency matters more than intensity. With rising awareness around posture and mental health, desk workouts are becoming the new normal for India’s tech workforce.
