HBO’s upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ television series has added three major characters for its second season, with new actors set to portray Dobby, Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle as the adaptation moves towards the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Actor Lenny Rush has been cast as the beloved house-elf Dobby, while Bonnie Hill will play Ginny Weasley and Billy Barratt will portray a young Tom Riddle, the future Lord Voldemort.

The casting announcements bring three important additions to the Wizarding World storyline. In The Chamber of Secrets, Dobby plays a key role in warning Harry Potter about the dangers awaiting him at Hogwarts, while Ginny Weasley becomes central to the mystery involving the enchanted diary connected to Tom Riddle.

Billy Barratt’s casting marks the introduction of the younger version of Tom Riddle in HBO’s adaptation. The character appears through memories connected to the diary and provides important background to Voldemort’s rise.

Bonnie Hill takes over the role of Ginny Weasley for the second season. She replaces Gracie Cochrane, who was previously associated with the character in the production’s first season but will not continue in the role.

The new additions join the main young cast led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The series also features established actors including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

HBO’s adaptation is planned as a long-form retelling of author J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series, with the makers aiming to explore each book in greater detail through separate seasons. The first season will adapt Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The upcoming television version is separate from the original eight-film franchise, which starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the lead roles. The HBO series has generated significant interest among fans as it promises a more detailed adaptation of the books.

The first season of HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ series is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026, while production plans for Season 2 are already moving ahead with the newly announced cast members.
