PM Modi Distributes 61,000 Government Job Appointment Letters at 18th Rozgar Mela

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday handed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates across various government departments and organisations during the 18th Rozgar Mela, conducted via video conferencing.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s focus on generating employment opportunities for India’s youth both domestically and internationally. “Our continuous effort is to create new opportunities across the country and the world for India’s youth. Currently, the Government of India is signing trade and mobility agreements with many countries. These agreements are bringing numerous new opportunities for India’s young people,” he said.

Modi highlighted India’s demographic advantage as one of the world’s youngest nations and underlined the government’s infrastructure investments as a key driver of employment. “In recent times, India has made unprecedented investments in modern infrastructure, generating huge employment opportunities in every sector related to construction,” he noted.

The Prime Minister also linked the occasion to a historic milestone, marking 76 years since the adoption of Jana Gana Mana as India’s national anthem on January 24. He described the appointment letters as symbolic of national service, calling them a “sankalp patra” for contributing to the nation’s development and a Viksit Bharat.

Reflecting on past Rozgar Melas, Modi reiterated that government jobs represent more than employment—they are avenues for contributing to nation-building. During the 17th Rozgar Mela in October 2023, he had stated, “This is not just a government job, but an opportunity for national service,” highlighting the central role of youth in India’s progress.

The event also spotlighted initiatives such as the Pratibha Setu portal, designed to connect talented youth—including candidates who reached the final stages of the UPSC selection process but were not appointed—with public and private sector opportunities. This platform aims to harness the potential of skilled youth and showcase India’s talent globally.

The Rozgar Mela initiative began in October 2022, with a goal of providing one million government jobs by the end of 2023. By November 2023, over 700,000 youths had received appointment letters through 11 Rozgar Melas, and the target of 1.1 million jobs was achieved in 2025. The 12th Rozgar Mela, held in February 2024, saw a record distribution of 100,000 job letters prior to the Lok Sabha elections.

The 18th Rozgar Mela reinforces the government’s commitment to youth employment, linking skill development, national service, and international opportunities through trade and mobility agreements.
