A building collapsed in Delhi's Satya Niketan area near Moti Bagh on Sunday afternoon, with several people feared trapped beneath the debris, prompting a major rescue operation by emergency services.

The incident was reported at around 1:30 pm near Shiv Mandir in Satya Niketan, in South-West Delhi. Delhi Fire Services and police teams reached the location after receiving information about the collapse and began efforts to search the rubble for survivors. 

Rescue teams deployed at collapse site

The Delhi Fire Department pressed multiple fire tenders into service following the incident. The rescue operation was launched immediately, with emergency personnel working to clear the debris and locate people who may have been trapped inside.

Officials have not yet confirmed the total number of people who were inside the building when it collapsed. Authorities are expected to provide further details as the rescue operation progresses. 

One person rescued

A latest report from the site said one person had been rescued from beneath the rubble, while teams continued searching for others who may remain trapped.

Visuals from the area showed a large gathering around the collapsed structure as rescue personnel and local residents attempted to assist the emergency response.
