Congress to Raise Inflation, Public Issues in Chhattisgarh

Congress in Janjgir-Champa plans a public awareness campaign on inflation, electricity bills, education, recruitment and other public issues.

The Congress has decided to intensify its outreach among people in Chhattisgarh by taking up inflation, rising electricity bills, education-related concerns and other public issues through a planned awareness and mobilisation campaign.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the newly formed Janjgir-Champa District Congress Committee executive, where party leaders discussed strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and preparing a strategy for future public movements.

Chhattisgarh Congress co-in-charge and AICC national secretary Vijay Jangid said the party would raise issues concerning schools, teacher recruitment and government policies during its outreach programmes. He also highlighted the rise in electricity bills and prices of essential commodities, including sugar, pulses and cooking oil, which Congress leaders said were putting additional pressure on household budgets.

Congress plans public awareness campaign

The meeting focused on connecting people directly with the party's proposed campaigns rather than limiting the activities to organisational meetings.

Congress leaders said workers would visit communities to highlight issues affecting daily life and seek public participation in future protests. The party plans to position itself as a platform for raising what it describes as people's concerns during the BJP government's tenure.

The decision comes as the Congress works to strengthen its organisational structure in the district following the formation of the new executive committee.

Monthly meetings at grassroots level

As part of the organisational strategy, the party has decided to hold meetings every month at the district, block and mandal levels.

The district Congress president has been asked to conduct meetings not only at the district headquarters but also across different blocks. According to the strategy discussed at the meeting, this is intended to improve coordination with workers at the grassroots and bring more people into the organisation.

Party leaders also emphasised the need to involve younger workers alongside experienced members, with the aim of expanding the organisational base ahead of future political activities.

Focus on inflation and electricity bills

Inflation emerged as one of the central issues discussed during the meeting. Congress leaders argued that higher prices of everyday items such as sugar, pulses and edible oil are directly affecting consumers.

Rising electricity bills were also identified as an issue that the party intends to take to the public. Congress leaders said these concerns would form part of its broader campaign against policies of the BJP-led state government.

The party's campaign is expected to combine public meetings, organisational outreach and protests around issues that it considers directly connected to household expenses and public services.

Congress targets stronger district organisation

The meeting also underlined the Congress' efforts to make its district-level organisation more active and accessible. Regular meetings outside the district headquarters are expected to give block-level workers greater participation in organisational decisions and public campaigns.

The party said its objective is to strengthen coordination among district, block and mandal units while expanding its reach among youth and other sections of the community.

The latest strategy reflects the Congress' attempt to use public-interest issues to rebuild its grassroots presence in Chhattisgarh. With inflation, electricity costs, education and recruitment among the issues identified, the party is preparing to step up its engagement with people in the coming months.
