The incident, which took place on Wednesday morning, came to light after mobile clips of the torture were widely circulated on social media. Taking swift cognizance of the video evidence, the Kalipith police have registered an FIR against several villagers under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Midnight Robbery Targets 90-Year-Old Woman

According to police sources, the sequence of events began late Tuesday night around 11:00 PM. The suspect, identified as Govind Verma, allegedly broke into the residence of Jatan Bai Sondhiya, a 90-year-old woman who was sleeping alone at the time.

Verma reportedly managed to unfasten a pair of heavy silver anklets (payal) from the elderly woman's feet. However, as he attempted to aggressively pull off her silver bangles, the victim woke up and raised an alarm. Startled by her screams, the suspect fled into the darkness before neighbors could gather.

Brutal Retaliation Captured on Camera

The news of the midnight burglary spread rapidly across Kharparas village by early Wednesday morning. Forming search parties, local residents managed to track down Verma in the vicinity and brought him back to the village square.

The situation escalated into extreme violence as a mob gathered. Verma's hands were bound with ropes as villagers took turns thrashing him.

The viral footage shows a young local woman emerging from a house carrying a heavily heated iron wire, which she used to repeatedly brand the suspect's leg as he writhed and screamed in agony.

Later, the crowd tied Verma to the chassis of a tractor-trolley for prolonged interrogation before finally handing him over to a police team.

Cross-FIRs Registered; Investigation Escalated to SDOP Level

The police have taken action against both sides involved in the conflict. Based on the initial complaint lodged by the elderly victim, a robbery and house-trespass case was registered against Govind Verma. Investigators have successfully recovered the stolen silver anklets from his possession.

However, subsequent verification revealed that Verma belongs to a Scheduled Caste community. Following the emergence of the torture videos, police registered a cross-case against the vigilante mob.

Legal Action Matrix:

├── Against Suspect (Govind Verma): House-trespass & Robbery charges; silver recovery complete.

└── Against Mob (Devraj, Lakhan & 2 others): SC-ST Act invocation, unlawful confinement, & causing grievous hurt.

"We have booked four residents, including individuals named Devraj and Lakhan, under the SC-ST Act and sections pertaining to assault. Given the sensitive nature of the case and the caste-based angles involved, the investigation has been officially handed over to an officer of the Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) rank," stated Jitendra Ajnare, Kalipith Town Inspector.

Forensic teams are currently verifying the authenticity of the video logs to identify other bystanders who actively participated in or abetted the illegal confinement and branding. Police added that further statements are being recorded, and arrests will follow shortly.

In a dramatic turn of events, a 3-minute-20-second confession video has emerged of Rahul Mishra, the prime accused who allegedly fired 16 rounds at a local resident's house in Azad Nagar on Sunday night. Speaking from an undisclosed location three days after the incident, Mishra claimed he was driven to pick up the gun by a predatory loan shark and police apathy.

Defying the Morena police administration, the accused demanded that authorities shoot him in an encounter rather than harass his elderly parents, who he claims have nothing to do with the shooting.

Forced Car Agreement Despite Settling Debt

According to Mishra's video statement, the conflict traces back to a financial transaction with the victim, Suraj Yadav alias Sonu. Mishra claimed he had borrowed a sum of money from Yadav and repaid the principal along with a mutually agreed 2% interest. However, Yadav allegedly began extorting him, demanding an exorbitant 20% interest rate instead.

Mishra alleged that when he refused to comply with the inflated demands, Yadav assaulted him and forcibly extracted a legal agreement for his personal car.

"I went to the Station Road police station to lodge a formal complaint against this extortion, but the local police refused to take any action against him," Mishra alleged in the video.

Car Snatched by Musclemen on Highway

Detailing the immediate trigger behind Sunday's brazen shooting, Mishra said he tried navigating formal channels and even approached the Superintendent of Police during a public grievance hearing (Jansunwai).

"Sonu Yadav openly mocked me, saying they have immense wealth and power, and that the police would never listen to a person like me. I even have the acknowledgment receipt from the SP office complaint," Mishra said.

The breaking point arrived on the night of June 22 near the Ganeshpura bridge. Mishra alleged that Yadav, accompanied by 10 to 15 musclemen, intercepted his vehicle, assaulted him, and drove away with his car.

"I called Dial 100 repeatedly, but no police unit arrived for 20 minutes. It became crystal clear to me that the local police were hand-in-glove with the loan shark. Left with no avenue for justice, I took matters into my own hands at 10:55 PM that night," the accused stated.

16 Rounds in 2 Minutes: The Firing Incident

The incident unfolded on Sunday night when four masked miscreants riding two motorcycles pulled up outside Yadav’s residence in Azad Nagar. CCTV footage from the location showed the riders intentionally ramming a motorcycle into the main gate before pulling out firearms.

Within a span of two minutes, the attackers unleashed a volley of 16 bullets directly at the house before speeding away from the spot. Following the incident, the Kotwali police registered an FIR naming Rahul Mishra along with three unidentified associates.

Timeline of Events (As per Accused Statement):

├── June 22, 09:30 PM : Car forcibly snatched by loan shark near Ganeshpura

├── June 22, 09:50 PM : No response from Dial 100 units

└── June 22, 10:55 PM : Retaliatory 16-round firing at Sonu Yadav's residence

Station Road Police Deny Knowledge of Complaint

The viral video has triggered a massive bureaucratic stir within the district police hierarchy. Responding to allegations of systemic bias and inaction, current Station Road Town Inspector (TI) Sanjay Baraiya shifted the accountability to previous desk officers.

"The complaint application mentioned by the accused was submitted during the tenure of the former TI, Kuldeep Rajput. This specific grievance never came across my desk. Had the matter been brought to my attention, strict legal recourse would have been initiated immediately," Baraiya stated.

Meanwhile, Mishra has warned that if any harm comes to him or the loan shark, the Morena district administration will be solely responsible, reiterating that he is prepared to end his own life if his vehicle is not recovered and an FIR is not filed against Yadav for assault. Search operations to track down Mishra and his three accomplices are currently underway.

A 22-year-old DJ operator was beaten to death in Chhattisgarh's Korba district late Sunday night over a dispute that began with an Instagram story.

The victim, Ravi Yadav, a resident of Ramsagar Para under Kotwali police station limits, was returning home from an event when he was attacked by a group of men armed with knives, sticks and bricks.

The attack was allegedly led by Mahendra Gangwani, a local vendor, along with his minor son and several associates. The violent assault was captured on video by bystanders and has since gone viral on social media.

According to police, the dispute between Yadav and Gangwani began about a week ago over an Instagram story. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, and a complaint was filed at the local police station. For a few days, the matter remained quiet.

On Sunday night, Yadav was returning home from an event when he encountered Gangwani. The two again exchanged heated words, and the situation quickly turned violent.

Gangwani, along with his minor son and other accomplices, launched a brutal attack on Yadav. They used knives, sticks and bricks, repeatedly striking him on the head and body. Yadav collapsed at the spot, bleeding profusely, and died on the scene due to excessive bleeding.

A friend who tried to intervene was also severely injured and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Following the murder, angry locals gathered at the accused's house and vandalized his property and vehicle. Tension gripped the area. Family members of the deceased and local residents staged a protest outside the Kotwali police station, demanding justice.

Seven Arrested, Investigation Underway

Police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. The injured friend was rushed to the hospital. Yadav's body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Police have arrested seven people in connection with the murder, including the two masterminds. According to Additional SP Lakhan Patle, the incident occurred at around 10 pm on Sunday. The prime accused, Harshit Gangwani and Mahendra Gangwani, are being interrogated.

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari visited the Kotwali police station and the crime scene. A heavy police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.

The exact nature of the Instagram story that sparked the dispute is yet to be ascertained. Police are investigating the matter further.

Residents have alleged that the audacity of local goons is growing due to police negligence. They complained that incidents of lynching, feuds, hooliganism and stabbings are common in the Ramsagar Para, Motisagar Para, and Sitamani areas under the Kotwali station area.

A video of a youth performing dangerous bike stunts on National Highway 30 in Rewa district has gone viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from locals and prompting police action.

The clip, which surfaced on Saturday, shows a young man identified as Vipin riding a sports bike in a reckless manner on the busy highway. At one point, he is seen standing on the moving motorcycle, and at another, he lifts the front wheel off the ground while speeding down the road.

Dangerous Antics on Busy Highway

The stunts were performed on a stretch of NH-30 that witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day, including trucks, cars and other two-wheelers. Local residents expressed concern that a minor miscalculation or loss of balance could have resulted in a serious accident, endangering not just the rider but other commuters as well.

The video shows the youth riding without a helmet and performing stunts as if the highway were an empty stretch, despite the presence of other vehicles in close proximity.

Social Media Fame at What Cost?

According to locals, such stunt riding has become increasingly common in Rewa district. Young men are putting their lives and the lives of others at risk in pursuit of social media popularity, more followers and viral content.

The race for likes, views and online fame is leading to blatant violations of traffic rules, with riders openly flouting safety norms. Riding without helmets, overspeeding and careless driving have become routine challenges to road safety in the area.

A Recurring Problem

This is not the first time such an incident has come to light in Rewa. Earlier, a video of dangerous stunts inside the Mohniya Tunnel had also gone viral, shocking residents and authorities alike. The tunnel, like the highway, is a busy thoroughfare where such stunts pose a significant risk to public safety.

Despite the earlier incident, authorities have been unable to effectively curb such activities.

Police Launch Investigation

Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mishra confirmed that the matter had come to the notice of police through social media.

"The concerned youth is being identified," Mishra said. "Strict action will be taken against those who violate traffic rules and perform stunts on public roads."

He added that such negligence would not be tolerated and that legal action would be ensured against those endangering public safety.

A forest ranger posted in Satna district has come under police investigation after a dispute at a hotel in Rewa's Chorhata area led to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR). The incident, which reportedly occurred at a hotel in the city, drew public attention after videos of the confrontation circulated on social media.

According to police officials, the complaint was filed by the ranger's wife, who alleged that her husband was staying at the hotel with another woman. She claimed that after confronting the two, a heated argument broke out and she was physically assaulted during the altercation.

Chorhata police have registered a case under relevant sections related to assault and have initiated an investigation into the matter. Authorities said the allegations are being examined and statements from those involved are being recorded as part of the inquiry.

Dispute Erupts at Hotel

Police sources said the incident took place at a hotel located within the Chorhata police station limits. The complainant reportedly travelled from Satna after receiving information that her husband was staying at the property.

Upon reaching the hotel, she allegedly confronted her husband and found another woman inside the room. The situation quickly escalated into a verbal dispute, which later turned into a physical altercation.

According to the complaint, the woman sustained injuries during the confrontation. Based on her statement, police registered an FIR and began legal proceedings.

Viral Video Draws Attention

Reports indicate that portions of the incident were recorded on mobile phones and later shared on social media platforms. The videos, which have since circulated widely, show scenes of a heated argument inside and around the hotel premises.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that amid the commotion, the ranger left the hotel and moved toward the bypass area. Some witnesses claimed he later departed the location in a passing truck. However, police have not officially confirmed those details and are verifying all aspects of the incident.

Officials have also not released information regarding the identity of the other woman involved, and no allegations have been established against her at this stage.

Police Investigation Underway

According to Chorhata police station officials, the case currently pertains to allegations of assault made by the complainant. Investigators are reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, to determine the sequence of events.

Police emphasized that the matter remains under investigation and that conclusions will be drawn only after all facts have been verified. No official statement has been issued regarding any departmental action against the ranger.

Police in Nagpur have registered a case after a 24‑year‑old woman, wife of an Indian Air Force officer, alleged she was raped, blackmailed and forced to undergo a religious conversion. Two men have been arrested and one cleric is absconding, officials said on Tuesday.

The woman, who works as a property dealer and whose husband is posted out of city, told police the main accused, identified as Ayaz Taj Madare — a schoolmate who contacted her in February 2025 saying he wanted to buy land — first lured her to a hotel on Wardha Road. She alleges she was given juice laced with an intoxicant, raped while unconscious, and filmed. The complainant says the recordings were later used to extort about ₹4 lakh and to coerce her into repeated sexual exploitation.

A video that circulated online is central to the probe. In the clip the woman is seen resisting and pleading, “Please leave me,” while an accused holds her hands and reportedly recites verses and blows on her face. Investigators said the footage appears to show an attempt to perform a religious ritual; the woman alleges she was pressured to say “Qubool Hai,” after which the accused purported to have conducted a nikah and pronounced a conversion.

Sonegaon police confirmed an FIR has been filed that lists charges including rape, repeated sexual exploitation, extortion, blackmail, forced religious conversion and offences under Maharashtra’s law against superstition and black magic. Electronic devices seized from the accused are being forensically examined, a police official said. Two suspects linked to the case are in custody; a cleric from Chhindwara named in the complaint is reported to be absconding.

The victim informed her husband about the ordeal on June 12 after he returned from duty, police said. Following the complaint, investigators began questioning witnesses and are tracing the sequence of events, including locations mentioned by the woman, alleged payments and communications between the accused and the victim.

Police reiterated that forensic analysis of the seized gadgets and medical reports will guide next steps. “We are following leads and will take legal action based on evidence. The investigation is ongoing,” a senior Nagpur police officer said, declining further details because the matter involves sexual assault and an active probe.

Legal and social‑service officials said cases that mix sexual violence, blackmail and alleged forced religious conversion are complex and require coordinated handling — evidence collection, victim support, counselling and, where needed, protection. Activists urged prompt, sensitive investigation and protection for the survivor and her family.

The viral video has also sparked public outrage on social platforms, with demands for swift arrest and strict action. Officials cautioned against sharing unverified material and asked the public to allow police to complete the probe.

Further details, including the identities and remand status of the arrested men, will be released after formal procedures. Those with information related to the case have been asked to contact Sonegaon police.

Tension erupted at a city hotel on Tuesday after a woman constable from Satna allegedly caught her husband, a forest ranger, with another woman in a room.

The incident took place at Hotel Royal Inn in Rewa, where Forest Range Officer Brijendra Pandey, posted in Barondha circle of Satna district, was staying. According to preliminary information, his wife, who is posted as a constable at Barondha police station in Satna, received information about his presence in the hotel. She reached Rewa without taking leave and went straight to the room.

When the door opened, she questioned her husband about another person inside. Sources said the ranger initially denied it, but the constable entered the room and found a young woman there. What followed was a loud confrontation that spilled out of the room into the hotel premises.

Eyewitnesses said the wife brought the woman out and started questioning both of them. The argument soon turned heated. Hotel staff and bystanders gathered as the couple and the third woman exchanged sharp words. Within minutes, a crowd assembled outside the hotel. Several people recorded the entire episode on their phones, and the videos quickly went viral on social media.

As the situation escalated, the ranger and the young woman reportedly left the hotel and climbed into a dumper vehicle parked nearby. They drove away from the spot, leaving the constable behind. She continued to create a ruckus in the hotel premises for some time, according to people present there.

The dramatic showdown has now triggered a police case. An FIR has been registered at Rewa’s Chorhata police station against Ranger Brijendra Pandey and the woman involved. Police have not yet disclosed the exact sections under which the case was filed or the specific complaints made by the wife.

Locals who witnessed the scene said the confrontation was intense and unexpected in the busy hotel area. The videos circulating online show heated exchanges and a gathering crowd, though police are still verifying the sequence of events.

The constable had reportedly travelled from Satna without prior sanction of leave. Officials are now examining both the viral videos and the formal complaint. Further details of the investigation are awaited.

This incident has drawn significant local attention, especially because it involves two government employees — one from the forest department and the other from the police. In small-town Madhya Pradesh, such public confrontations often spark discussions about personal conduct of officials and the strain it puts on families.

While no official statement has come from the forest department or senior police officers so far, sources indicated that both departments are aware of the matter. The ranger’s immediate superiors in Satna are likely to receive a report soon.

The case remains under active investigation. Police said they are collecting more evidence and speaking to witnesses. The outcome of the probe and any departmental action will be known only after a clearer picture emerges.

For now, the viral videos continue to circulate, keeping the Rewa hotel incident in local conversations. Many are watching to see how the administration handles a case that has already become very public.

Bank Manager Caught Taking Bribe From Widow in Balodabazar

A viral video has exposed a branch manager of the District Cooperative Central Bank allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a widow seeking to withdraw money from her deceased husband's account, prompting an administrative inquiry in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar district.

Widow Forced to Pay Rs 5,000

The complainant, Khelan Bai Satnami, a resident of Nipania village, told officials that her husband Roopdas Satnami died around a year ago, leaving behind a bank account with approximately Rs 1.10 lakh at the Nipania branch of the cooperative bank. When she approached the branch to complete the withdrawal formalities, branch manager Anita Pandey allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to process the paperwork. The amount was later negotiated down to Rs 5,000, which the widow paid.

Villager Films Transaction

A villager who had accompanied the woman to the bank recorded the exchange on video and shared it widely on social media. The clip reportedly shows the manager questioning the woman about her late husband, getting documents signed, and later telling the woman's son to hurry with the withdrawal. When asked how much money was involved, the son replied Rs 5,000, after which the manager is heard telling the family to come to her directly with any future issues.

Complaint Filed With Collector

Following the incident, Khelan Bai approached the Balodabazar Collector during the public grievance hearing (Jan Darshan) and lodged a formal complaint against the bank official. She submitted the video evidence to the administration and demanded an inquiry, along with registration of an FIR and action against the manager.

MLA Raises Questions Over Conduct

Bhatapara MLA Indra Sao also questioned the manager's conduct, saying multiple complaints against her had surfaced even during her earlier postings. According to the MLA, farmers in Nipania have also been troubled by her working style. He alleged that around a year ago, when he had raised similar concerns over the phone, the officer responded dismissively before disconnecting the call, asserting she would do as she pleased. He added that such complaints reflect poorly on his constituency and that some villagers have alleged bribes are routinely sought for routine banking work.

Administration Orders Probe

According to officials, Balodabazar Collector Kuldeep Sharma has directed the nodal officer of the concerned department to investigate the matter following the complaint. Authorities confirmed that action would depend on the findings of the inquiry.

Background of the Bank

Anita Pandey serves as the branch manager of the District Cooperative Central Bank's Nipania branch in Balodabazar district. The incident has drawn renewed attention to allegations of corruption in cooperative banking institutions across rural Chhattisgarh, where residents have previously raised concerns about being asked for bribes for routine services such as fund withdrawals and land-related paperwork.

What Happens Next

With the video evidence now submitted to district authorities, the inquiry is expected to determine the validity of the allegations against the manager. Local sources said further action, including possible disciplinary proceedings, would depend on the outcome of the administrative probe ordered by the Collector.

A chaotic crowd rush during a Pune promotional event saw Kriti Sanon helping Rashmika Mandanna navigate through fans safely, highlighting recurring celebrity safety concerns at public appearances.

A promotional event featuring actors Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna and Shahid Kapoor at a mall in Pune recently turned chaotic as large numbers of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars, leading to crowd management challenges and renewed discussion around celebrity safety during public appearances.

Videos circulating on social media showed hundreds of fans converging around the actors soon after they arrived at the venue. As the crowd swelled, security personnel appeared to struggle to maintain a clear passage for the celebrities. Amid the rush, Kriti Sanon was seen helping co-star Rashmika Mandanna move through the crowd, a gesture that quickly drew praise online.

Pune Event Turns Chaotic

According to videos shared by attendees, fans pushed forward in an attempt to see the actors up close, creating a congested environment inside the mall. Security teams formed protective barriers around the celebrities as they attempted to move between designated areas.

One widely shared clip showed Kriti Sanon gently holding Rashmika Mandanna and guiding her through the crowd while security personnel worked to manage the situation. The moment resonated with fans, many of whom described Kriti's actions as considerate and supportive.

Viral Moment Gains Attention

The incident quickly became a talking point across entertainment and social media platforms. While celebrity appearances routinely attract large crowds, the Pune event highlighted how quickly enthusiasm can overwhelm organisers, particularly in enclosed public spaces.

Neither the actors nor their teams publicly commented on the crowd situation immediately after the event. However, the viral footage prompted discussions about event planning, security arrangements and the increasing challenge of managing fan gatherings.

Not An Isolated Incident

Crowd-related incidents involving film stars are far from uncommon in India. Public appearances, airport arrivals, promotional tours and religious visits frequently draw large numbers of fans, sometimes creating difficult situations for both celebrities and security personnel.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who was also present at the Pune event, has previously witnessed similar scenes during promotional activities. Industry observers note that growing social media visibility often amplifies crowd turnout, as fans track celebrity movements in real time.

Bollywood's Crowd Challenges

Several high-profile actors have faced mobbing incidents over the years. Shah Rukh Khan has repeatedly encountered overwhelming crowds at airports, with fans gathering in large numbers for selfies and brief interactions.

Salman Khan's public appearances, particularly during festive celebrations in Mumbai, have often required extensive security arrangements due to heavy fan turnout. Deepika Padukone and Kartik Aaryan have also experienced situations where organisers had to intervene to manage surging crowds during promotional events.

Similarly, Sara Ali Khan has attracted large gatherings during visits to religious sites, while Ranbir Kapoor's public appearances have occasionally resulted in crowd-control challenges for local authorities and event organisers.

Safety Concerns Persist

While most fan interactions remain peaceful, security experts have long pointed to the risks associated with uncontrolled gatherings. Sudden crowd movements can lead to injuries, panic or security breaches, particularly when events are held in confined spaces.

The issue extends beyond inconvenience for celebrities. Organisers are increasingly required to coordinate with venue authorities and local law enforcement to ensure crowd safety for both public attendees and event participants.

Lessons From Past Incidents

One of the most serious celebrity-related security incidents occurred in 2014 when actress Gauahar Khan was attacked during the filming of a reality show in Mumbai. A man from the audience entered the stage and slapped the actor before being detained by security personnel.

The episode sparked widespread concern within the entertainment industry and reinforced calls for stronger security protocols during public events.

As fan engagement continues to grow in the digital age, the Pune incident serves as another reminder of the delicate balance between celebrity accessibility and public safety. Event organisers may increasingly face pressure to strengthen crowd management measures to prevent similar situations in the future.

A viral video showing a monkey carrying a stray puppy up a tree in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district has triggered widespread discussion online and among local residents. The incident, which took place in the Rewalsar area, filmed a primate holding the young canine nearly 20 feet above the ground on a tree branch, keeping locals on the edge for several minutes.

Tense moments in Rewalsar

The incident occurred over the weekend when onlookers noticed a rhesus macaque lifting a small stray puppy. Within moments, the monkey scaled a nearby tree, balancing the puppy in its arms.

Witnesses gathered beneath the tree, anxious that the primate might drop the young animal. However, onlookers noted that the puppy remained surprisingly calm throughout the ten-minute ordeal, showing no visible signs of panic or struggle while perched high above the ground.

Locals flag safety worries

While the unusual encounter ended peacefully, it has left the local community divided. Some residents view it as a rare display of interspecies affection, while others see it as a warning sign of unpredictable wildlife behavior in human-dominated spaces.

"When the monkey climbed the tree carrying the puppy, everyone present became concerned about its safety," said Ajay Surya, a resident of Rewalsar who witnessed the event. "The monkey was sitting nearly 20 feet above the ground. If it had dropped the puppy, the fall could have been fatal. Fortunately, it brought it down safely and released it."

Surya added that while this specific incident concluded without injury, it has renewed anxieties among parents regarding the safety of young children playing outdoors, given the high population of monkeys in the town.

Experts point to maternal instinct

Wildlife enthusiasts suggest the behavior might stem from deep-rooted biological drives rather than aggression. The gentle handling of the canine has led observers to believe the primate may have been a female driven by maternal instincts.

Narendra Saini, a wildlife enthusiast and president of the Devbhoomi Environment Protection Forum, noted that such cross-species interactions, though rare, are documented. "There have been several instances in the past where animals have shown affection toward the young of other species. After watching the viral video, it appeared to me that the monkey may have been female. Female monkeys display stronger nurturing instincts," Saini explained.

Changing patterns in wildlife

The incident has also caught the attention of forest officials, who view it through the lens of shifting environmental conditions and increasing human-wildlife interface.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and wildlife expert S.S. Kashyap stated that altering climate patterns and habituation to human environments are modifying traditional animal behavior. "Monkeys are highly intelligent animals and are quick to imitate behaviors, much like humans. Even species that are generally considered rivals can sometimes display friendly or affectionate behavior toward one another," Kashyap said.

The puppy, confirmed to be a local stray, was left completely uninjured after the monkey carefully descended the trunk and placed it back on the ground before retreating into the canopy.

Balodabazar, Chhattisgarh: Nine men released on bail just hours earlier turned a quiet evening in Balodabazar into a scene of chaos on June 5 night, taking out a noisy vehicle rally with dangerous stunts and public nuisance. Police swiftly cracked down, rearresting all of them for the fresh violations.

The incident occurred in the Bhatapar city police station area, particularly around Kalyan Sagar Ward’s Talab Par Road. Around 10 pm, a convoy of cars and motorcycles moved through the locality as the newly released men celebrated their freedom in a manner that quickly drew public attention and complaints.

Reckless Stunts and Public Nuisance

Eyewitnesses and circulating videos showed several of the accused hanging out of moving car windows, performing risky stunts while filming reels. Garlands were placed on some individuals amid loud celebrations that included fireworks. Local residents alleged misbehaviour with passersby, creating an atmosphere of fear and disturbance in the residential area.

The group reportedly posted videos of the rally on social media, which further escalated the matter. Police acted promptly upon receiving information, cordoning off the area and detaining all nine individuals on the spot.

The Accused and Previous Cases

The arrested persons have been identified as:

- Aditya Sahu (22)

- Sagar Dhiwar (27)

- Manish Dhritlahre alias Surya (21)

- Wasim Ali (20)

- Santosh alias Chhotu Manhare (25)

- Sagar Yadav (24)

- Ashish Dhruv (21)

- Hemant Bhat (20)

- Om Dhruv (20)

They were earlier booked under various sections for assault, hooliganism, disturbing public peace, criminal conspiracy, and acting in common intention. Different courts had granted them bail at different times, leading to their release on the night of June 5.

Police Crackdown and Official Stand

Balodabazar police registered a fresh case against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 170, 126, and 135(3). All nine were produced before the court and sent back to judicial custody.

Speaking on the incident, Superintendent of Police OP Sharma strongly condemned the act. “Bail does not mean a free pass for hooliganism,” he said. He added that such actions are not achievements but invitations for stricter punishment. The police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those who try to spread fear through rallies or display dominance on social media.

Background and Local Reactions

Balodabazar, like several other districts in Chhattisgarh, has been witnessing occasional instances of youth indulging in showy, law-defying behaviour after legal relief. Residents in the affected mohalla expressed anger over the disturbance late at night, especially when families were at home. Many questioned how individuals with pending cases could so quickly resume activities that intimidate ordinary citizens.

This episode has once again highlighted concerns over the misuse of bail provisions and the need for stricter monitoring of repeat offenders involved in public order violations.

Similar Incidents and Broader Concern

The Balodabazar incident comes close on the heels of other reported cases in the state, including a recent stunt in Bilaspur where a young woman was seen dancing atop a moving BMW through its sunroof. Such visuals often go viral, raising questions about road safety, law enforcement response, and the influence of social media on reckless behaviour.

Local authorities have assured that investigations will examine if there was any larger coordination behind the rally and whether additional charges are warranted. Police teams are also reviewing social media posts for evidence.

As of now, the nine accused remain in custody. The case is likely to serve as a deterrent in the district, with officials emphasising that freedom on bail comes with the responsibility of maintaining peace and respecting the law.

The development has sparked discussions on social media and among local communities about balancing individual legal rights with public safety. Authorities say further action will depend on the court proceedings and any additional complaints received from affected residents.

Illegal Gambling Den Caught on Camera in Rewa, Questions Raised Over Police Inaction

A woman constable's husband among those named; City Kotwali says action will follow video verification

A video that has surfaced from the heart of Rewa city is posing uncomfortable questions for local police. The clip, now circulating widely, shows what residents describe as a long-running illegal gambling operation in a colony behind Fomens School near Gudha Chowraha, within the City Kotwali police station limits. Dozens of people are clearly visible in the footage, openly placing bets — in what locals say has been going on for years without any police intervention.

Gambling Den in Plain Sight

According to people familiar with the locality, the gambling den has been active for a considerable period. Gamblers reportedly arrive daily from different parts of the city and beyond, with stakes running into lakhs of rupees. That such a large-scale illegal operation could function unhindered in a densely populated urban area has left many residents baffled and angry.

The site falls squarely within the jurisdiction of City Kotwali, one of Rewa's main police stations. The absence of any previous raid or crackdown — despite the activity being common knowledge in the neighbourhood — is what has fuelled public frustration.

A Constable's Husband Named

The controversy deepened when names began circulating locally in connection with the gambling ring's operation. Shivcaharan and Ikhlak are said to be among those actively running the racket. More significantly, a woman police constable's husband has also been named as allegedly involved — an allegation that, if borne out, would point to direct complicity within the police force itself. These are claims doing the rounds at the local level and are yet to be officially confirmed or denied.

The involvement of a serving police personnel's family member has added a sharper edge to public anger. Many in the area are asking how such a high-visibility operation survived for so long without any administrative action.

Police Respond, Promise Action

City Kotwali police have acknowledged the video. Officials said the footage has come to their attention and that an inquiry has been initiated. According to local authorities, once the gambling is verified through the investigation, those visible in the video will be identified and legal action taken against them under the relevant provisions of the Gambling Act.

The statement, however, has done little to satisfy residents, many of whom feel the police response should have come on its own without the pressure of a viral video.

Credibility on the Line

Cases like this tend to resonate beyond the immediate locality. When illegal activity thrives openly in a busy urban neighbourhood for an extended period, it raises questions that go beyond a single gambling den. The focus inevitably shifts to whether there is a systematic failure — or worse, deliberate protection — allowing such operations to continue.

For Rewa police, the coming days will be telling. If the inquiry leads to real arrests and accountability — including scrutiny of the named individuals — it may partially restore confidence. If not, the video is likely to become a reference point in a wider conversation about policing standards in the city.

As of now, the case remains under investigation. The City Kotwali is yet to make any arrests.
