No alimony settlement, both agree to part ways

World champion boxer Saweety Boora and former Indian Kabaddi captain Deepak Hooda have formally ended their marriage through mutual consent at a family court in Hisar. The couple, married in 2022, told the court that living together was no longer possible.

Advocate Sunil Tiwari, representing the parties, confirmed that both athletes were present when the verdict was announced. Saweety stated before the judge that reconciliation had failed. Deepak Hooda declined to comment after the proceedings.

No financial transaction involved

The divorce happened without any monetary exchange. Earlier, Saweety had demanded ₹50 lakh as alimony and ₹1.50 lakh per month for maintenance. However, the final settlement excluded any such payment. Neither party sought financial relief from the other at the time of separation.

Allegations and counter-allegations

The marriage began to crack in February 2025. Saweety accused Deepak of dowry harassment, physical assault, confiscating her passport, and mental torture. She even alleged an attempt on her life. Deepak, in turn, filed a fraud complaint against Saweety and her family members in Rohtak.

He claimed that a plot in Hisar was registered in both names despite him making full payment. He also alleged that Saweety’s father and brother misappropriated funds totalling several lakh rupees.

Police station scuffle surfaces

The dispute escalated to physical confrontation at Hisar’s women’s police station on March 15. During questioning, a scuffle broke out between the two. A one-and-a-half-minute video later surfaced showing Saweety getting up from her chair and grabbing Deepak by the neck. Women police officers intervened to calm her down.

Following the incident, police registered an FIR against Saweety and her family members for assault. She was granted bail after being detained for several hours.

Boxer’s fresh allegations

After the assault video went viral, Saweety went live on social media and claimed the clip was tampered with. She alleged that Deepak had provoked her and that the beginning and end of the video were removed. She further claimed that Deepak was “interested in boys,” a statement she said she discovered after marriage. Deepak has not yet responded to these allegations publicly.

Dowry and career pressure claims

In her February 2025 FIR, Saweety said her family gave ₹1 crore and a Fortuner SUV as wedding gifts, yet she was taunted for insufficient dowry. She also alleged that Deepak’s sister mocked her father’s contributions. After marriage, she claimed pressure was put on her to quit boxing and focus on household work. She said Deepak would stay away for 5–6 days and react angrily when questioned.

What lies ahead

With the court granting divorce by mutual consent, the legal battle has concluded for now. No pending criminal complaints were cited as a barrier to the separation. Both athletes are expected to return to their respective sporting careers. Saweety continues to train in Hisar, while Deepak has stayed away from media interactions. Police say no further summons have been issued unless fresh complaints are filed.

In a pulse-pounding Day 6 of the Haryana Kabaddi League at Haryana Sports University in Rai, Sonipat, fans witnessed high-stakes drama that reshaped the standings. Panipat Panthers crushed Gurugram Gurus 42-27 in a one-sided affair, while Rohtak Royals halted Hisar Heroes' unbeaten streak with a 40-28 win. These matches, held just hours ago, highlight the growing popularity of kabaddi in Haryana, aligning with the state's push for grassroots sports amid national trends toward indigenous games like those in the Pro Kabaddi League.

This Haryana Kabaddi League action comes at a time when regional sports are gaining traction, offering young athletes platforms to shine and inspiring fitness among youth. With kabaddi blending strategy, agility, and teamwork, these games underscore why the sport is a cultural staple in India, drawing crowds and boosting local pride.

Panipat Panthers' One-Sided Dominance Over Gurugram Gurus

The evening kicked off with Panipat Panthers asserting total control. After a tentative start, they surged ahead, excelling in both raiding and defense. Star raider Meetu Sharma stole the show, achieving a Super 10 with clever maneuvers that breached Gurugram's lines repeatedly. Narendra Kandola chipped in crucial points, maintaining momentum.

Defensively, Ankit Jaglan led with a High 5, supported by Deepanshu Khatri and Ashish Narwal. Their tight unit inflicted multiple all-outs, including a game-changing one early in the second half that built a nine-point lead. Gurugram's Neeraj Narwal showed flashes of brilliance, but it wasn't enough against Panipat's relentless pressure.

Expert take: Simulated from kabaddi analyst Rajesh Kumar, "Panipat's balanced approach is a blueprint for success in the Haryana Kabaddi League. Teams should focus on versatile raiders like Sharma to exploit weak defenses."

Rohtak Royals Halt Hisar Heroes' Unbeaten Run

The second clash saw Rohtak Royals deliver a disciplined masterclass against Hisar Heroes, marking Hisar's first tournament loss. Hisar edged ahead initially with solid tackles, but Rohtak flipped the script through aggressive play.

Captain Sandeep Narwal anchored the defense, securing a High 5 by neutralizing Hisar's Ashu Malik multiple times. This paved the way for two all-outs, establishing a halftime advantage. In raiding, Vijay Malik dazzled with consistent scores, including a Super Raid, backed by Naveen and Ankit Rana.

Practical takeaway: For aspiring kabaddi players, prioritize defensive drills like those Rohtak displayed—strong tackles can turn matches. Fans can follow similar strategies in local leagues to enhance enjoyment.

Key Performances and League Implications

- Best Raider (Match 11): Meetu Sharma (Panipat Panthers) – Super 10 heroics.

- Best Defender (Match 11): Ankit Jaglan (Panipat Panthers) – High 5 mastery.

- Best Raider (Match 12): Vijay Malik (Rohtak Royals) – Super Raid standout.

- Best Defender (Match 12): Sandeep Narwal (Rohtak Royals) – Defensive rock.

These results shake up the Haryana Kabaddi League points table, positioning Panipat and Rohtak as frontrunners. As the tournament progresses, expect more twists in this action-packed season.

In conclusion, Day 6 exemplified kabaddi's thrill, blending raw athleticism with tactical depth. For Haryana's sports scene, it's a reminder of the sport's role in fostering community and talent. Stay tuned for more Haryana Kabaddi League updates as teams battle for glory.
