Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute appointment letters for government jobs to more than 51,000 young candidates on Saturday, as the Centre continues its flagship recruitment drive under the Rozgar Mela initiative.

The 19th edition of the event is scheduled for 11 AM and will be conducted via video conferencing, with physical venues set up across 47 cities nationwide. Officials said the selected candidates will receive offers from multiple central departments, including Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Higher Education.

Over 51,000 Appointments

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the distribution covers fresh recruits who have cleared various selection processes. While the bulk of appointments are in Group C and D posts, a smaller number of Group B positions are also included.

“The Rozgar Mela is a major scheme to provide employment to the country’s youth,” a government spokesperson said, adding that the drive aims to speed up recruitment and reduce vacancies across ministries. Saturday’s event alone will see more than 51,000 job letters issued.

47 Cities Across India

The mela will be held simultaneously in state capitals and major urban centres, including Lucknow, Patna, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, and Chandigarh, among others. Regional nodal officers have been appointed to oversee the smooth distribution of offer letters at each location.

Local authorities have set up help desks at the venues to assist candidates with document verification and onboarding formalities. In many cities, the events will be streamed live so that participants can view the PM’s address.

PM’s Social Media Post

Ahead of the event, Modi posted on X, reiterating the government’s commitment to youth empowerment. “Our administration is continuously working for a better future and to strengthen the hands of the young generation,” he wrote. “The Rozgar Mela is providing an opportunity for youth to secure government jobs.”

This is not the first time the Prime Minister has highlighted the mela’s reach. In previous addresses, he has described it as a transparent, fast-track mechanism to fill vacancies without the traditional delays.

12 Lakh Beneficiaries So Far

The Rozgar Mela was first launched on October 22, 2022. At that time, Modi had set a target of providing 10 lakh government jobs by the end of 2023. Official data shows that around 12 lakh appointments have already been made across 18 earlier editions.

A record 1 lakh job letters were handed out on February 12, 2024, during the 12th Rozgar Mela, which came just before the general elections. By early 2025, the cumulative figure crossed the 11-lakh mark. The 18th mela saw 61,000 youths receive appointment letters.

Focus on Women Empowerment

During the 18th Rozgar Mela, the Prime Minister had pointed to rising female participation in the workforce. “Women are leading in startups across the country. The rate of women’s self-employment has increased by 15%,” he said in his virtual address. More than 8,000 women received appointment letters in that single event.

Officials familiar with the recruitment data said Saturday’s distribution is also expected to have significant female representation, though final numbers will be available after the event.

Next Steps for New Recruits

Candidates who receive job letters today will undergo induction training under the government’s revised capacity-building framework. Many will join their postings within the next four to six weeks, depending on departmental clearances.

With the 19th Rozgar Mela underway, the government has indicated that more editions are planned in the coming months. While no fresh targets have been announced, sources said the focus remains on completing pending recruitment from earlier notifications.

Remote Work and Hybrid Schedules

Companies announce new work-from-home policies today for Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio natives. Those wanting remote arrangements should submit requests in writing by 11 AM. Approval comes within 24 hours.

Hybrid schedule negotiations succeed when you offer specific days. Propose Tuesday-Thursday in office. Monday and Friday remote. This pattern matches planetary support. Employers accept structured proposals more than flexible requests.

Warning Signs at Workplace

Three red flags indicate need to change jobs immediately. Boss avoids eye contact during conversations. Payroll delays beyond three days. Your ideas get credited to others repeatedly. If two of three signs present, update resume tonight.

Astrologers warn against confronting toxic bosses during this transit. The Saturn-Mars aspect makes authority figures defensive. Instead, quietly prepare exit strategy. New opportunities manifest within six weeks for those who leave strategically.

Long-Term Career Outlook

May 18 plants seeds for November 2026 career growth. Decisions made today about jobs, salaries, or business partnerships will show results during Diwali season. Choose wisely. Short-term comfort trades off against long-term growth.

Those who change jobs today receive signing bonuses. Those who stay receive appreciation but delayed raises. The stars favour movement over stagnation. Trust your professional instincts completely.

As the nation observes Labour Day on 1st May 2026, trade unions press for a universal minimum wage and improved social security, with rallies planned across major industrial hubs.

Labour Day 2026 began this morning with a distinct edge. Across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, workers gathered before sunrise, not just to mark the holiday but to renew demands that have lingered for years.

In Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, crowds started assembling as early as 6 am. By 8 am, banners from a dozen unions dotted the grey morning sky. The central demand this time? A universal minimum wage of ₹20,000 per month, plus a firm timeline for implementing the new social security codes passed by Parliament years ago.

Ground reports from industrial belts

Things looked heavier in Gujarat’s Rajkot and Vapi regions. Small engineering and chemical units remained shut. Local authorities confirmed they had deployed additional police contingents near major factory clusters as a precaution.

“No production loss has been reported so far, but several units declared a holiday voluntarily,” said a senior labour department official from Gandhinagar, requesting anonymity. “We are monitoring the situation.”

In Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore and Tiruppur – the country’s knitwear backbone – many textile units operated with skeletal staff. Most migrant workers had taken the day off. A few small processions moved through the inner lanes of Singanallur in the late morning.

What workers are actually saying

Sources familiar with the matter said the mood is less about confrontation and more about fatigue. Multiple rounds of tripartite talks between unions, employers, and the Centre have not yielded a wage code rollout. Labour Day 2026 has become a pressure point to break that stalemate.

“We have heard promises for three budgets now,” said a union representative from Thane’s chemical zone, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Workers want a date. Not another committee.”

The government has not issued any formal statement as of noon. However, official sources indicated that the labour ministry is internally reviewing the wage floor proposal. A decision may come after the ongoing assembly session.

Background and public relevance

The spotlight on Labour Day 2026 is sharper than last year. Inflation in essential commodities has remained sticky across urban and rural markets. For daily wagers and gig economy workers – who now form a significant chunk of the workforce – the absence of a formal minimum wage hits harder.

Initial reports from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar suggest that many informal sector workers did not join formal rallies but observed the day as a regular paid holiday. In Lucknow and Patna, smaller solidarity meetings were held near labour chowks in the afternoon.

Forward look

What happens after May 1 will matter more than the rallies themselves. Union leaders have indicated they will wait for a formal response from the Centre until the end of this month. If nothing moves, a larger nationwide protest is likely in June.

For now, Labour Day 2026 remains a day of symbolic strength. But the underlying message is clear: patience is running thin on the factory floor.

The recruitment process for over two and a half thousand nursing positions across Madhya Pradesh has restarted, following an interim order from the High Court. The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB) is now accepting applications for Nursing Officer and Sister Tutor posts under the Public Health and Medical Education Department, with a tight window closing on May 3.

The development brings some relief to candidates who had been waiting on the sidelines due to pending litigation.

High Court allows limited window

The interim order, issued in response to a set of petitions, permits eligible candidates to apply between April 29 and May 3. Officials confirmed that this concession applies only to those who are part of the ongoing legal proceedings. For everyone else, the earlier application schedule remains closed.

The court has not stayed the examination itself but has attached conditions. Applicants under this category will have provisional candidature, meaning their results will be withheld until the final disposal of the petitions. Selection and appointment, authorities clarified, hinge entirely on how the court rules eventually.

Strict action for false information

The ESB has put out a clear warning alongside the notification. Any applicant found furnishing incorrect or misleading details — whether in educational credentials, experience, or category certificates — will face immediate cancellation of candidature. Officials said verification will happen at multiple stages, and no leniency is promised.

Candidates who miss the May 3 deadline, for any reason, will not be given another chance to apply. The board has stressed that individual responsibility lies with the applicant to complete the online process in time.

Vacancy breakdown: 1,256 hospital posts

A total of 2,646 positions are to be filled through this joint recruitment examination for the 2026 cycle. Nursing Officer posts account for the bulk: 1,256 in government hospitals and another 954 in government medical colleges. Additionally, 218 posts of Sister Tutor are open.

Both are regular, Group C positions. Nursing Officers fall under Level-7 with a pay scale starting at ₹28,700, while Sister Tutors are placed at Level-9 with a starting salary of ₹36,200.

Exam pattern and shifts

The written examination will carry 100 questions, each worth one mark, and candidates will get two hours to answer. The paper is split into two sections: 25 marks for General Knowledge, Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Science combined, and 75 marks for Nursing subjects.

The exam will be held in two shifts on the same day — morning session from 10 AM to 12 PM, and afternoon from 3 PM to 5 PM. Selection will be purely merit-based on written exam scores. General category candidates need at least 50% marks to qualify, while reserved categories require 40%.

Application fee and mandatory requirements

Online applications require Aadhaar-based registration, and candidates must keep their application number safe. A valid photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, or voter ID — is compulsory on exam day. Active registration with the employment office is also a must.
