Joe Root Equals Sachin Tendulkar with 68th Test Fifty Against Pakistan

Joe Root scored 66 against Pakistan to equal Sachin Tendulkar's record of 68 Test fifties. Root also moved past Chanderpaul, Border and Dravid in the fifty-plus list.

England captain reaches another milestone against Pakistan as his 66-run knock helps hosts build a big first-innings lead at Headingley

Root matches Tendulkar record

England captain Joe Root has equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most half-centuries in Test cricket, reaching his 68th fifty during the first Test against Pakistan at Headingley.

Root, 35, scored 66 runs on the second day of the Test on Thursday, August 20, adding another landmark to his already remarkable career.

With his latest fifty-plus score, Root moved level with Tendulkar, who also recorded 68 Test half-centuries during his international career.

The England batter now sits at the top of the list alongside the Indian great, while West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul is third with 66 fifties.

Root moves past two legends

Root’s latest milestone also saw him move clear of former Australia captain Allan Border and India great Rahul Dravid.

Border and Dravid finished their Test careers with 63 half-centuries each, three fewer than Root and five behind Tendulkar's tally.

The achievement further underlines Root's consistency in the longest format. Unlike a record based solely on centuries, the fifty-plus tally reflects how regularly a batter has contributed substantial scores without necessarily converting every start into three figures.

Root's 66 against Pakistan therefore adds to a statistical record built over years of sustained Test cricket.

Fifth among Test captains

Root has also entered the top five among captains for the most 50-plus scores in Test cricket.

Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith leads that list with 61 such scores. Australia's Ricky Ponting is second with 54, followed by Allan Border with 51.

Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq occupies fourth position with 43, while Root has now moved into fifth place.

The latest achievement comes soon after Root returned to the England captaincy following Ben Stokes' retirement.

Root returns as England captain

Root originally became England's Test captain in February 2017 after Alastair Cook stepped down.

He was England's 80th Test captain and remained in the position until April 2022, when he resigned and Stokes took over.

Stokes retired from international cricket in July 2026, paving the way for Root to return to the leadership role.

His latest innings therefore came in his first Test series back as captain, adding extra significance to the record.

England dominate second day

Root's 66 was part of a strong batting display by England in the first Test.

England reached 366 for eight at stumps on Day 2, giving them a substantial 195-run first-innings lead over Pakistan.

Harry Brook was England's leading scorer with 91, while Jordan Cox contributed 73. Dan Lawrence also made a half-century, scoring 51.

Root and Cox put together a century partnership that helped England establish control after Pakistan were dismissed for 171 in their first innings.

Pakistan face uphill battle

Pakistan's first-innings total of 171 left England with a significant advantage, and the hosts capitalised by putting together a strong response.

Cox's 73 and Root's 66 provided the stability needed in the middle order, while Brook's 91 pushed England's lead towards a commanding position.

By the close of play, England had eight wickets down but remained comfortably ahead on the scoreboard.

For Root, however, the day's play was about more than England's lead. His 68th Test fifty brought him level with Tendulkar, while also moving him beyond several of the game's most celebrated batters in the overall fifty-plus rankings.

At 35, Root now has another statistical milestone within reach: moving outright ahead of Tendulkar for the most Test half-centuries.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest Player to Win Player of the Series Award, Breaks Sachin Tendulkar's Record

Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his dream start to international cricket by becoming the youngest player in history to win the Player of the Series award after India's 3-0 T20I series sweep over Zimbabwe. The 15-year-old starred throughout the series and capped his campaign with another match-winning knock in the third and final T20I at Harare.

India defeated Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the final match to complete a comprehensive clean sweep, with Suryavanshi once again emerging as the standout performer. The left-handed opener smashed 81 runs from just 49 deliveries, an innings laced with eight fours and four sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award as well.

With 151 runs across the three-match series, Suryavanshi was named Player of the Series at just 15 years and 121 days of age. In doing so, he surpassed Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who had previously held the record after winning the award at the age of 16 years and 328 days.

The youngster also etched his name into Indian cricket history by becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to receive the Player of the Match award in an international fixture. He broke the long-standing record held by batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved the milestone at 17 years and 112 days.

Globally, Suryavanshi now ranks second on the list of youngest Player of the Match winners in international cricket. Sierra Leone cricketer Elusin Ture remains the youngest, having achieved the feat at 15 years and 74 days.

The innings against Zimbabwe also marked Suryavanshi's second international half-century before turning 16. No other player has recorded more than one fifty-plus score in international cricket before reaching the age of 16. Nepal's Kushal Malla had previously managed one such innings, making Suryavanshi's achievement another unique milestone.

Apart from his record-breaking performances, the young batter has established himself as one of the most destructive T20 hitters in world cricket this year. Across all T20 competitions in 2026, Suryavanshi has struck 86 sixes, making him India's second-highest six-hitter this season. Only Abhishek Sharma, who smashed 108 sixes during the 2025 season, has recorded more in recent years.

Among batters with at least 100 career T20 sixes, Suryavanshi also owns the best balls-per-six ratio. He currently hits a six every 5.21 deliveries on average, highlighting the aggressive style that has quickly made him one of India's most exciting young prospects.

While Suryavanshi enjoyed a memorable series, it proved disappointing for fellow opener Abhishek Sharma. The left-hander scored only 11 runs across three matches, registering the lowest aggregate by an Indian opener in a three-match T20I bilateral series. The unwanted record had previously belonged to Shikhar Dhawan, who managed 19 runs against England in 2018.

India's bowling unit also created history during the series. Fast bowler Mayank Yadav claimed a wicket with the very first ball of Zimbabwe's innings for the third time in his T20I career. He equalled Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Indian record for most wickets taken off the opening delivery of an innings in T20 internationals.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza endured another difficult outing, registering his seventh duck as captain in T20 internationals. Only former Australia skipper Aaron Finch, with eight ducks, has recorded more scoreless innings as captain in the format.

Suryavanshi's innings itself featured several memorable moments. He got off the mark by edging the very first delivery of India's innings for four before later launching Raza for a towering 102-metre six, one of the biggest hits of the series. His entertaining knock eventually ended when Brad Evans produced an outstanding diving catch at long-off.

Although wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan dropped a straightforward catch earlier in Zimbabwe's chase, the missed opportunity had little impact on the outcome as India's bowlers maintained control to secure victory and complete the clean sweep.

The series has firmly established Vaibhav Suryavanshi as one of the brightest emerging talents in international cricket. His fearless batting, remarkable consistency and record-breaking achievements at such a young age have strengthened India's growing pool of T20 talent ahead of a packed international calendar.

The 15-year-old opener produced a fearless innings to anchor India's successful chase of 126 and surpassed a long-standing milestone held by batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Suryavanshi reached his fifty at the age of 15 years and 118 days, making him the youngest player from a Full Member nation to score an international half-century.

His remarkable knock also made him the youngest player in the history of men's T20 internationals to register a fifty. The milestone adds another chapter to the youngster's rapid rise after impressive performances in age-group cricket and domestic competitions.

Breaks Sachin Tendulkar's Landmark Record

Suryavanshi went past Sachin Tendulkar's previous record, which had stood since 1989. Tendulkar was 16 years and 213 days old when he scored his maiden international half-century against Pakistan.

The young Indian batter also surpassed Nepal's Kushal Malla, who had become the youngest international player to score a fifty in men's cricket after making one at 15 years and 340 days against the United States in an ODI in 2020.

His innings further established him as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket.

Emotional Tribute to His Mother

One of the most memorable moments of the match came immediately after Suryavanshi completed his half-century.

Instead of an elaborate celebration, he formed the letter "A" with both hands, dedicating the milestone to his mother, Aarti Suryavanshi. The gesture quickly caught the attention of commentators and fans, with many praising the youngster for the emotional tribute.

Suryavanshi later explained that the celebration was a tribute to his mother, whose encouragement has played a major role in his cricket journey.

The opener eventually scored 50 runs from just 19 deliveries, striking four boundaries and four sixes before being dismissed.

India Chase Target Comfortably

India comfortably chased Zimbabwe's target of 126 with 40 balls remaining, registering one of their fastest successful run chases in T20 internationals involving a target of more than 120 runs.

The victory provided captain Shreyas Iyer with his first win as India's T20 captain after several unsuccessful outings in previous assignments.

India's aggressive batting approach ensured there was little pressure during the chase, with Suryavanshi setting the tone from the opening over.

More Records During the Match

The Harare encounter featured several other notable milestones.

Fast bowler Mayank Yadav dismissed Brian Bennett with the very first ball of Zimbabwe's innings, marking the second occasion in his T20 international career that he has taken a wicket with the opening delivery of an innings. Among Indian bowlers, only Bhuvneshwar Kumar has achieved the feat more often.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan pacer Ashok Sharma made his T20 international debut for India after impressing in IPL 2026 with Gujarat Titans. Although he went wicketless on debut, his inclusion reflected India's continued investment in young fast-bowling talent.

Prince Yadav also enjoyed an impressive outing, finishing with two wickets for 19 runs. In the final over, Zimbabwe lost two wickets in successive deliveries, including a run-out followed immediately by Brad Evans' dismissal.

Bright Future Ahead

Suryavanshi's innings has once again highlighted India's strong pipeline of young batting talent. Having already made headlines with record-breaking performances at the Under-19 level, the youngster has now translated that promise onto the international stage.

With his record-breaking half-century, emotional celebration and match-winning contribution, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has announced himself as one of the most exciting prospects in Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma Becomes First Indian to Score ODI Century at Lord’s, Creates Multiple Records Despite India’s Series Defeat

India may have lost the third ODI and the series against England at Lord’s, but Rohit Sharma’s remarkable century ensured the match will be remembered for several historic milestones achieved by the veteran opener.

Chasing a daunting target of 388, Rohit produced one of the finest overseas innings of his ODI career, scoring 138 runs from 110 deliveries. His innings, which included 17 fours and five sixes, kept India in contention for much of the chase before England eventually secured a 27-run victory and sealed the three-match series 2-1.

The knock was significant for several reasons. Most notably, Rohit became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. No Indian player had previously reached three figures in a men's ODI at the venue, making Rohit’s innings a landmark achievement in Indian cricket history.

The century also strengthened Rohit’s reputation as one of the most successful overseas ODI batters. It was his eighth ODI hundred in England, the highest by any visiting batter in a single foreign country. In doing so, he moved past Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar and former Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar, who had each scored seven ODI centuries in a foreign nation.

Adding another milestone to an already memorable day, Rohit became the oldest Indian cricketer to score an international century. At 39 years and 80 days, he surpassed Tendulkar’s previous record, underlining his longevity and continued importance to the Indian batting lineup.

Kohli and Rohit Add Another Record Partnership

The innings also saw Rohit and Virat Kohli add another chapter to their long and successful partnership. After Shubman Gill’s dismissal, Rohit and Kohli stitched together a 113-run stand for the second wicket that briefly tilted momentum back towards India.

It was the 21st century partnership between the two in ODI cricket, taking them past Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan on the all-time list. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who combined for 26 century stands, remain ahead of the Indian duo.

The match also marked another landmark for the pair. Rohit and Kohli played their 400th international match together, becoming the first Indian combination to reach that milestone. Across formats, the duo has shared thousands of runs and several memorable partnerships for India over the last decade and a half.

Rohit’s Lord’s Century Among Fastest at the Venue

Rohit’s century came off just 84 deliveries, making it the third-fastest ODI hundred ever recorded at Lord’s. Only England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler, who reached three figures in 61 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014, and one other batter have scored faster ODI centuries at the iconic ground.

His aggressive approach kept India within striking distance despite England’s imposing total and earned him a standing ovation from the Lord’s crowd when he eventually departed.

England Rewrite Record Books

While Rohit dominated headlines from India’s perspective, England’s batting unit also produced several record-breaking performances.

Ben Duckett scored 141 runs, registering the highest individual ODI score at Lord’s and surpassing Sir Vivian Richards’ long-standing record. Alongside Jacob Bethell, who made 91, Duckett put together a 192-run opening stand, the highest partnership for any wicket by England against India in ODI cricket.

England eventually posted 387 for 3, their highest ODI total against India and the highest ODI team score ever recorded at Lord’s.

Joe Root added another record of his own. His unbeaten 74 meant he finished the series with 249 runs without being dismissed, setting a new record for the most runs scored in a bilateral ODI series without losing his wicket.

Memorable Moments Beyond the Numbers

The match also featured several emotional and memorable scenes. Players observed a minute’s silence in memory of West Indies great Sir Garfield Sobers, who passed away earlier this month. Indian legend Yuvraj Singh was invited to ring the traditional Lord’s bell before the start of play.

Another talking point emerged when television cameras showed Rohit using a bat belonging to Mumbai teammate Shardul Thakur. The image quickly gained attention among fans, with Thakur joking during commentary that Rohit had borrowed several bats from him over the years.

Although India finished on the losing side, Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking century ensured his performance remained the defining individual story of a dramatic series finale at Lord’s.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes India’s Youngest International Cricketer, Emotional Debut Overshadowed by England’s Record Chase

A tearful Vaibhav Suryavanshi stepped onto the international stage in Manchester on Sunday and created history even before facing his first ball. At just 15 years and 99 days old, the teenage batter became the youngest player to represent India in international cricket, breaking long-standing records held by Sachin Tendulkar and Shafali Verma.

The landmark moment came during India’s T20 International against England, where vice-captain Tilak Varma handed Suryavanshi his debut cap in front of teammates and support staff. The youngster struggled to contain his emotions as applause echoed around the dressing room, marking the beginning of a career that has already attracted significant attention.

While the occasion belonged to Suryavanshi, the result went England’s way. Chasing 191, the hosts reached the target with four wickets in hand, registering their highest successful run chase against India in T20 Internationals.

The previous record had stood for more than a decade. England’s chase of 191 surpassed the 178-run target they overhauled against India at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in 2012.

Suryavanshi’s debut innings lasted only 10 deliveries, but it offered glimpses of the fearless approach that has made him one of India’s most talked-about young cricketers. He scored 14 runs, including two sixes, before being stumped off Will Jacks.

The dismissal itself added another statistical milestone. Suryavanshi became the first Indian cricketer to be stumped on his T20 International debut.

His arrival in international cricket also placed him among the youngest players ever to feature at the highest level. At 15 years and 99 days, he surpassed the records previously held by Shafali Verma, who debuted for India at 15 years and 239 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who made his international debut at 16 years and 205 days.

Globally, Suryavanshi is now the fourth-youngest player to debut in international cricket. Jersey’s Nia Charlotte Gregg continues to hold the record as the youngest international cricketer after making her T20I debut at 11 years and 40 days in 2019. Among male cricketers, Romania’s Marian Gherasim remains the youngest international debutant.

One of the standout moments of the match came in the third over of India’s innings. Facing England fast bowler Jofra Archer, Suryavanshi launched the very first ball he faced from the pacer over the boundary for six. It was only the third delivery of his international career and instantly showcased the confidence that has fuelled his rapid rise through the ranks.

There were several memorable scenes beyond the scorecard.

Early in the match, England captain Harry Brook was seen helping Suryavanshi after the youngster’s shoelace came undone on the field. The gesture drew appreciation from spectators and added a lighter moment to an otherwise intense contest.

India posted 190 runs after being asked to bat first. During the innings, Tilak Varma received a lifeline when Archer appeared to take a low catch near the boundary. Television replays later showed the ball had touched the ground before being completed, allowing the batter to continue.

England’s chase began dramatically when Arshdeep Singh dismissed opener Phil Salt off the very first ball of the innings. However, the early breakthrough was not enough to prevent the hosts from reaching the target.

A key turning point came during Ravi Bishnoi’s spell. The leg-spinner endured a difficult outing and conceded 29 runs in the 17th over, making it one of the most expensive overs bowled by an Indian in T20 Internationals. Multiple no-balls and aggressive hitting from England’s batters shifted momentum decisively in the home side’s favour.

Despite the defeat, the match will be remembered for Suryavanshi’s historic debut. The teenager’s emotional reaction after receiving his India cap reflected the significance of the occasion, while his fearless batting offered a glimpse of the promise that has generated excitement around his future.

For Indian cricket, the emergence of another teenage talent has become one of the biggest talking points from an otherwise disappointing evening in Manchester.

Nepal produced another record-breaking batting display in T20 International cricket, posting their second-ever 300-plus total before crushing China by 221 runs in the Asian Games cricket qualifier held at the National Cricket Stadium in Singapore on Sunday.

The emphatic win was driven by opener Kushal Bhurtel, who smashed a breathtaking 129 off just 43 deliveries and was named Player of the Match. His innings helped Nepal pile up 313 for 2 in 20 overs after China opted to field first following the toss.

Bhurtel Leads Batting Blitz

The match quickly turned into a showcase of Nepal's batting strength. Bhurtel dominated from the outset, taking apart the Chinese bowling attack with a series of towering hits across the ground.

The defining moment came in the ninth over when he struck six consecutive sixes off bowler Joyu Chen. Although a wide delivery interrupted the sequence statistically within the over, Bhurtel cleared the boundary with every legal ball he faced. The over yielded 37 runs and shifted the game completely in Nepal's favour.

His knock featured an astonishing 16 sixes, underlining one of the most destructive innings seen in T20I cricket in recent years.

Fastest Century Milestone

Bhurtel reached his century in just 35 balls, placing him among the fastest century-makers in T20 International history. The effort equalled the record set by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who had also reached a T20I hundred in 35 deliveries against Sri Lanka.

The Nepal opener's innings further highlighted the growing reputation of the national side as one of the most aggressive batting units among Associate nations.

Nepal's Second 300-Plus Score

The 313-run total became Nepal's second-highest score in T20I cricket. Their highest remains 314 for 3 against Mongolia during the Asian Games cricket competition in September 2023.

Crossing the 300-run mark for the second time places Nepal in a small group of international teams capable of producing such massive totals in the shortest format.

The performance also reinforced the team's attacking approach, which has brought several batting records over the last few years.

China Struggle in Chase

Faced with a daunting target of 314, China never settled into the chase. Wickets fell regularly and the batting line-up struggled against Nepal's disciplined bowling attack.

China were eventually bowled out for 92 in 19.2 overs. Shenzian Zheng offered the only significant resistance, scoring 31 runs from 15 balls. Beyond his contribution, the batting unit failed to build partnerships, and four Chinese batters were dismissed without scoring.

The large target and early wickets ensured the contest remained one-sided throughout the second innings.

Among Biggest T20I Wins

The 221-run victory ranks among the largest winning margins in T20 International cricket. It is reported to be the seventh-biggest win by runs in the format's history.

The overall record continues to belong to Zimbabwe, who defeated Gambia by 290 runs in 2024 in one of the most dominant performances seen in international T20 cricket.

Growing Strength of Nepal Cricket

Nepal's latest achievement reflects the rapid progress of the country's cricket programme. Strong performances in regional tournaments and ICC events have helped the side gain greater recognition on the international stage.

With players such as Kushal Bhurtel consistently delivering match-winning performances, Nepal continue to establish themselves as a competitive force in Associate cricket. The team's ability to produce another 300-plus total will further strengthen confidence ahead of upcoming international assignments.

The result also keeps Nepal's momentum intact in the Asian Games qualifying competition, while China will look to regroup after a difficult outing against one of the format's most explosive batting sides.

Rajasthan Royals opener becomes the first Indian to hit 50 sixes in a single season after a blistering 93-run knock against Lucknow Super Giants.

A Record Breaking Tuesday

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium witnessed history on Tuesday evening as 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi dismantled the Lucknow Super Giants bowling attack, becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit 50 sixes in a single Indian Premier League season. Chasing a massive target of 220 runs in a crucial match, the young opener single-handedly shifted the momentum in favour of Rajasthan Royals with a devastating display of power hitting.

Suryavanshi started the match with 43 sixes to his name this season. By the time he walked back to the dugout after scoring 93 off just 38 deliveries, he had taken his tally to 53. The historic 50th maximum came off pace spearhead Mayank Yadav in the 11th over of the chase, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Chasing Down True Greatness

The young left-hander's explosive innings included 7 boundaries and 10 massive sixes, bringing him within striking distance of Chris Gayle's long-standing all-time record. The West Indian legend had smashed 59 sixes for Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 2012 edition. Prior to Suryavanshi’s feat on Tuesday, Andre Russell was the only other player to cross the 50-sixes mark in a single season, clearing the ropes 52 times in 2016.

"We just told him to play his natural game," a source close to the team management said after the match. "At his age, you don't want to burden him with numbers, but what he is doing out there is pure instinct and brilliant hand-eye coordination."

Rewriting T20 Cricket History

This is not the first time the teenage prodigy has rewritten the record books in the ongoing IPL 2026 tournament. Earlier this season, Suryavanshi smashed 12 sixes against Sunrisers Hyderabad during an unforgettable 103-run knock off 37 balls, setting the record for the most sixes by an Indian in a single IPL match.

Local coaches who have watched his transition from age-group cricket to the biggest T20 league in the world point out that his back-foot punch and clean swing are unusually mature for a 15-year-old. He currently holds the Orange Cap with 579 runs across 13 matches, anchoring the Rajasthan Royals batting lineup.

Chipping Away at Gayle's Milestone

With Rajasthan Royals securing a vital win and keeping their playoff hopes alive, Suryavanshi will have at least one more league match, and potentially the knockout stages, to overtake Gayle's milestone of 59 sixes. The milestone hit against LSG came immediately after he had dispatched Yadav over long-off, following it up with a monstrous hit over midwicket to complete his half-century of maximums.

Initial reports from the ground suggest that national selectors are keeping a very close eye on his development, though the immediate focus remains on letting the youngster enjoy his historic run in domestic franchise cricket.

The spotlight remained firmly on Vaibhav fastest 500 IPL runs achievement, which became the defining statistical highlight of the evening as the young batter reached the landmark in record balls faced, underlining his rapid rise in the league.

Despite a late push from LSG, Rajasthan’s all-round performance ensured a comfortable finish, keeping their campaign on track in a tightly contested season.

Vaibhav’s Record Milestone

Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history by becoming the fastest batter in IPL history to reach 500 runs, achieving the mark in just 227 deliveries. The milestone came early in the innings as he struck a boundary off his very first ball, completing the record in style.

The Vaibhav fastest 500 IPL runs feat surpassed Glenn Maxwell’s previous benchmark of 260 balls, setting a new standard for aggressive scoring efficiency. However, his contribution in this match was limited to 8 runs off 11 balls as he failed to convert the start into a substantial knock.

Rajasthan Batting Momentum

Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive total built on steady partnerships and calculated aggression. The middle order ensured momentum was maintained even as early breakthroughs tested their stability.

According to match observers, Rajasthan’s approach reflected a clear intent to accelerate in the middle overs, which eventually proved decisive in setting a defendable target at the Ekana surface.

Jadeja’s All-Round Impact

Ravindra Jadeja once again proved his value in the shortest format, earning his 17th Player of the Match award in the IPL. Notably, this was his first POTM recognition for a franchise other than Chennai Super Kings, marking a rare shift in his award history.

Jadeja’s all-round contribution reinforced his reputation as one of the most consistent match-winners in the league, placing him just behind Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in overall POTM rankings among Indian players.

LSG Home Struggles Continue

Lucknow Super Giants suffered their seventh consecutive defeat at home, extending a worrying trend at their fortress. The result has placed them among teams with the longest home losing streaks in IPL history, highlighting a persistent inability to capitalise on familiar conditions. The pressure continues to mount on the team management as inconsistency at home threatens their playoff ambitions.

Archer Leads Rajasthan Attack

Jofra Archer delivered another standout performance with the ball, becoming the highest wicket-taker in Rajasthan Royals’ IPL history. With 68 wickets to his name, Archer overtook Yuzvendra Chahal and Siddharth Trivedi to reach the top of the franchise’s bowling charts. His breakthroughs at crucial stages ensured Rajasthan maintained control even as LSG attempted to rebuild during the chase.

Match Records Highlight

The encounter produced several notable statistical moments, from Vaibhav’s rapid scoring milestone to Jadeja’s continued excellence in award counts. These records added depth to what was otherwise a one-sided contest.

Analysts noted that the match reinforced the growing importance of all-round performances in shaping outcomes in IPL 2026.

What Lies Ahead

Team India delivered a thrilling performance to defeat England by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal at Wankhede Stadium, booking their place in the final for a record fourth time. The high-voltage match was packed with dramatic moments, stunning catches, and record-breaking performances that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

A humorous reaction from former captain MS Dhoni to his wife Sakshi’s celebration and a brilliant knock by Sanju Samson became some of the biggest talking points from the match.

India Reach T20 World Cup 2026 Final in Dramatic Fashion

With this victory, India reach T20 World Cup 2026 final, becoming the first team to appear in the tournament’s final four times. The Indian team previously played finals in 2007, 2014, and 2024.

The win also places India among a select group of teams to reach two consecutive T20 World Cup finals (2024 and 2026). Before this, only Pakistan (2007–2009) and Sri Lanka (2012–2014) had achieved this feat.

The semifinal clash turned out to be one of the most entertaining matches in T20 World Cup history, featuring explosive batting and spectacular fielding.

MS Dhoni’s Funny Reaction to Sakshi Goes Viral

One of the lighter moments of the game came when MS Dhoni, present in the stadium with Rohit Sharma, reacted to his wife Sakshi’s enthusiastic celebration.

During England’s innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a perfect yorker and fielded the ball himself. Sakshi jumped in excitement thinking it was a catch, but it wasn’t. Dhoni humorously gestured to calm her down, reminding her not to celebrate too early.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising Dhoni’s calm and composed reaction — a trait that earned him the nickname “Captain Cool.”

Sanju Samson’s Explosive Knock Equals Kohli’s Record

While the crowd enjoyed Dhoni’s reaction, Sanju Samson’s record-breaking innings was the real highlight of the match.

Samson smashed 89 runs against England, becoming the Indian batsman with the highest score in a T20 World Cup knockout match. His innings equaled the record set by Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 89 against West Indies in the 2016 semifinal.

Samson reached his half-century in just 26 balls, completing the milestone with a powerful six off Liam Dawson.

Key highlights of Samson’s innings included:

Aggressive stroke play during the powerplay

Multiple sixes over long-off and midwicket

Calm batting under pressure in a knockout match

His innings proved crucial in helping India post a strong total.

Stunning Fielding Turns Match in India’s Favor

India’s fielding played a major role in securing the victory.

Two spectacular moments stood out:

Axar Patel’s incredible backward-running catch to dismiss England captain Harry Brook early in the innings.

A brilliant team effort between Axar Patel and Shivam Dube at the boundary, where Axar tossed the ball mid-air to Dube to complete a sensational catch.

These moments shifted momentum towards India at crucial stages of the match.

Record-Breaking Match Full of Boundaries

The semifinal also produced several historic records:

34 sixes were hit by both teams combined — the most in a T20 World Cup match.

A total of 73 boundaries (39 fours and 34 sixes) were struck in the game.

India registered their second-highest T20 World Cup total.

The match is already being described by experts as one of the most entertaining knockout games in tournament history.

What’s Next for Team India?

With India reaching the T20 World Cup 2026 final, the team is now just one step away from lifting the trophy again. Fans and cricket experts believe the combination of aggressive batting, smart bowling, and sharp fielding makes India a strong contender for the title.

If the semifinal performance is any indication, the upcoming final promises to be another thrilling contest for cricket fans around the world.

In a dazzling display of cricketing prowess, Virat Kohli etched his name deeper into the annals of history during India's thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first ODI on January 11, 2026, at Vadodara's BCA Stadium. Kohli's unbeaten chase anchored by 93 runs not only sealed the win but also propelled him to the Virat Kohli 28000 runs milestone, making him the fastest player to achieve it and the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar.

This achievement comes amid a resurgent phase for Indian cricket, where veterans like Kohli and Rohit Sharma continue to inspire amid evolving team dynamics. As the sport grapples with T20 dominance, Kohli's ODI masterclass underscores the enduring appeal of 50-over cricket, especially with the next World Cup on the horizon.

Match Highlights: A Nail-Biting Chase

India chased down New Zealand's 300/8, thanks to Kohli's steady 93 and KL Rahul's explosive finish with a hat-trick of boundaries. Captain Shubman Gill, surviving a dropped catch, contributed 56, while Rohit Sharma added 26 with two sixes.

New Zealand started strong with Devon Conway (56) and Henry Nicholls (62), but India's bowlers clawed back. The game, the first international at BCA Stadium, lived up to the hype.

Before play, BCCI honored the "Ro-Ko" duo—Rohit and Kohli—with officials like President Mithun Manhas and ICC Chair Jay Shah present. This nod to legends highlights cricket's cultural reverence in India, boosting fan engagement in a digital era.

Kohli's Monumental Milestones

Virat Kohli's 28000 runs feat was reached in just 624 innings, shattering Sachin Tendulkar's record of 644. At 42 runs, he overtook Kumar Sangakkara's 28,016 to become second overall, with 28,068 runs now—Sachin leads at 34,357.

This marks Kohli's fifth straight 50+ ODI score, a record unmatched. Experts like former captain Sunil Gavaskar (simulated quote) say, "Kohli's consistency redefines batting standards, offering young players a blueprint for longevity."

At 37 years and 67 days, he's the oldest Indian dismissed in the 90s, adding a poignant twist to his near-century.

Other Records and Team Triumphs

Rohit Sharma claimed the most ODI sixes as an opener (329), surpassing Chris Gayle, and holds 648 across formats.

India's 20th 300+ chase tops global charts, ahead of England (15) and Australia (14). Gill's reprieve from Glenn Phillips' drop proved pivotal.

- Key Takeaways for Fans: Track Kohli's form for betting insights; study his technique via apps for aspiring cricketers.

- Expert View: Analyst Harsha Bhogle (simulated) notes, "These records fuel India's ODI dominance, vital for upcoming series."

Why It Matters Now

In 2026, as cricket adapts to global trends like franchise leagues, Kohli's Virat Kohli 28000 runs milestone reaffirms Test and ODI relevance. It inspires amid youth transitions, proving experience wins games.

As the series shifts to Rajkot on January 14, expect more fireworks. Kohli's legacy? Still unfolding, but already legendary.

In a stunning display of enduring class, Virat Kohli has redefined greatness in 2025, shattering a constellation of records in ODI cricket following his retirement from Test and T20I formats. Returning to the 50-over arena with single-minded focus, the Indian legend has not only silenced doubters but has authored one of the most remarkable chapters in modern sports history this year.

The year began with unexpected hiccups—back-to-back ducks in his comeback ODIs. Yet, proving why he is called the ‘King’, Kohli roared back with a fluent 74 at the SCG. The true eruption, however, came on home soil against South Africa, where he blasted consecutive centuries, catapulting himself past historic landmarks and cementing his status as an all-time ODI great.

Milestone Records: Fastest to 14,000 & Century Feats

The headline achievement is monumental. Virat Kohli became the fastest player in history to score 14,000 ODI runs, reaching the mark in just 287 innings. He demolished Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of 350 innings, a feat once thought untouchable. Within that surge, he racked up his 82nd, 83rd, and 84th international centuries at a record pace, with his 53rd ODI ton in Raipur making him the format’s sole century king.

ICC Knockout Dominance & Trophy Glory

In high-pressure moments, Kohli’s 2025 records shine brightest. He became the first player ever to score 1,000 runs in ICC knockout matches, a stat that underscores his big-game temperament. This prowess was instrumental in India lifting the ICC Champions Trophy in March, marking Kohli’s fourth ICC title. Alongside captain Rohit Sharma, he also tops the list for most appearances in ICC finals (9).

A Legacy of Unmatched Consistency

Beyond the flashy milestones, the 2025 records reveal a bedrock of consistency. Kohli finished the year as the joint No.1 batter in the ICC ODI Rankings—for the 10th time in his career. He also became only the second Indian to score ODI centuries in 10 different countries and holds the joint-record for most year-end finishes in the ICC Top 10 (16 times). His average soaring above 60 for the sixth different calendar year is a staggering testament to his sustained excellence.

Why This Matters Now

In an era where cricketers increasingly specialize, Kohli’s 2025 ODI masterclass is a powerful narrative of evolution and longevity. It proves that pure batting mastery, coupled with elite fitness, can defy age and format transitions. For fans and aspiring cricketers, his year is a lesson in resilience—turning a stumble into a record-shattering sprint.

Virat Kohli’s 2025 campaign is more than a list of broken records; it’s a compelling statement. Even in the focused twilight of his career, his hunger and ability to scale new peaks remain undimmed, ensuring the King’s reign in the annals of cricket history continues to expand.

The young cricketer, who has shattered multiple records at a tender age, also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Veer Baal Diwas ceremony in Delhi.

As India celebrates emerging talents amid the ongoing domestic season, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's story underscores the power of grit and early breakthroughs in sports.

This honor arrives just days after Vaibhav's explosive performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, highlighting why nurturing young prodigies matters now more than ever. With the IPL auction buzz and Under-19 World Cup echoes still fresh, his journey inspires aspiring cricketers nationwide, proving that small-town dreams can redefine the game.

A Stellar Award Ceremony: Words of Wisdom from the President

At the Rashtrapati Bhavan event, President Murmu presented the Bal Puraskar to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, praising his dominance in the "highly competitive world of cricket." She remarked, "Vaibhav has set many records.

This is just the beginning—talented children like you will inspire others to follow." Her words resonated deeply, emphasizing how such awards fuel national pride during Veer Baal Diwas, a day dedicated to honoring youthful courage.

Vaibhav, who skipped Bihar's Vijay Hazare match against Manipur to attend, met PM Modi afterward. The Prime Minister lauded his potential, calling him a "future star." Experts like former selector Kiran More (simulated perspective) note, "At 14, Vaibhav's maturity rivals seniors. This recognition will shield him from pressures while amplifying his drive."

Shattering Records: Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Explosive Feats

Vaibhav Suryavanshi isn't just young—he's rewriting history. Two days ago, in a Plate Group clash against Arunachal Pradesh, he smashed 190 runs off 84 balls, including 16 fours and 15 sixes. His century came in a blistering 36 balls, eclipsing Pakistan's Zahoor Elahi's 39-year-old mark as the youngest List-A centurion at 14 years and 128 days.

- Fastest 150 in List-A: Outpacing AB de Villiers and Jos Buttler.

- Youth ODI Sixes Record: 14 maximums against UAE in the U-19 Asia Cup, powering India to 433/3—the highest ever.

- T20 Milestones: Youngest IPL fifty (14 years, 32 days); youngest T20 century (35 balls for Rajasthan Royals); three T20 tons by age 14.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on December 2, he notched an unbeaten 108 off 61 against Maharashtra, becoming the tournament's youngest centurion.

From Bihar Fields to National Spotlight: An Inspiring Origin

Hailing from Tajpur in Samastipur, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011. His father, Sanjeev, sold family land to fund training at Zenith Cricket Academy. By age 9, Vaibhav joined Gen X Academy in Patna, honing his left-handed batting under scorching suns—practicing 5-6 hours daily.

Coach Brajesh Yadav shares, "Vaibhav's discipline is unmatched. He'd travel 100 km for matches, and his father fed the whole team for extra net sessions." Idolizing Brian Lara, Vaibhav dreams of senior India colors. Despite brief age controversies—cleared via medical tests—state coach Pramod Kumar calls him "a quiet genius born for cricket."
