Under the state’s support price system, farmers who sold paddy to the government will receive the differential payment calculated at ₹3,100 per quintal. The amount will be credited in one go under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, a scheme aimed at improving farmers’ income.

During the Kharif Marketing Season 2025–26, the state procured 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from over 25.24 lakh farmers. To cover the price difference, the government will disburse approximately ₹10,000 crore before Holi.

Officials said the move is intended to ensure farmers have adequate funds ahead of the festive season and to strengthen rural economic activity.

Ministers and senior officials of the Sai Cabinet were present at the meeting where the decision was finalized.

Higher Support Compared to Previous Years

Over the past two years, the state government has already paid more than ₹25,000 crore to farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana as compensation for paddy price differences. With the additional ₹10,000 crore set to be released before Holi this year, the total disbursement under the scheme will rise to around ₹35,000 crore.

The decision is being seen as a significant step toward supporting the agricultural community and boosting rural incomes in Chhattisgarh.
