Losses are estimated between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh. Police and administrative teams rushed to the site soon after the attack and deployed heavy security to prevent further escalation.

Villagers alleged that liquid discharge from the plant had been flowing into their fields, ruining crops. They claimed repeated complaints to local authorities had gone unanswered, fuelling anger that culminated in the confrontation. Even after the initial incident Thursday night, groups reportedly attempted to re-enter the premises the next morning and hurled projectiles at police from a distance using slingshots.

Residents have reportedly restricted entry of outsiders into the village, and one truck driver from Maharashtra said he hid overnight in a forested area to escape the violence.

Farmers accused plant management, including Managing Director Vinod Khanna, of negligence and irregular monitoring, claiming officials visit only once or twice a month from Raipur. They argued that timely action on complaints could have prevented the unrest.

Authorities have launched an investigation into both the vandalism and the pollution allegations. Officials said environmental claims would be examined and damage to property assessed. The administration has urged residents to maintain peace while the inquiry proceeds.
