According to preliminary information, eligible candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board and possess basic computer knowledge. Applicants will be selected primarily on the basis of merit derived from academic marks, without a written examination, in keeping with the department’s established recruitment pattern. Authorities noted that document verification and local language proficiency tests will be conducted after provisional merit lists are published.

Senior officials indicated that the recruitment process is being rolled out early this year to ensure timely appointments before peak operational periods. The move is also intended to address staffing shortages reported in several rural divisions, where vacant posts have affected mail distribution efficiency and financial inclusion services such as postal banking.

The GDS network forms the backbone of India’s rural communication system, connecting remote villages to essential government and financial services. Postal administrators said expanding the workforce will help accelerate initiatives linked to digital services, parcel logistics, and direct benefit transfers.

Candidates will be required to submit applications through the designated online portal, upload supporting documents, and pay the prescribed fee where applicable. Authorities advised applicants to verify eligibility conditions carefully and avoid submitting multiple forms, as duplicate applications may be rejected during scrutiny.
