Officials from Punjab Police said the email, allegedly sent in the name of Khalistan National Army, threatened to detonate explosives at the hospital at 1:11 pm and claimed Mann had already been exposed to a radioactive toxin. Authorities stressed that the message provided no evidence to support the poisoning allegation and are treating it as part of a coordinated intimidation attempt.

Security was immediately tightened around the hospital in Mohali, with bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage units, and riot control teams deployed. Access to the premises was restricted, and the chief minister’s security detail took control of the site. Police said at least 16 schools and medical facilities received similar threatening emails, prompting precautionary evacuations and searches.

Superintendent of Police Dilpreet Singh confirmed that emergency protocols were activated within minutes. He added that cyber teams are tracing the email’s origin. Preliminary findings from earlier cases suggest previous threats were routed through foreign IP addresses, including servers traced to the United States and recovery addresses linked to Bangladesh.

The message referenced slain former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, who was assassinated in a 1995 bombing, and included warnings tied to separatist rhetoric. Investigators are examining whether the sender is connected to past hoax threats targeting institutions in Chandigarh and nearby areas.

The incident coincided with the start of national board examinations conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, adding to concern among parents and school administrators. Authorities said all affected campuses were searched and declared safe.

Security agencies noted that multiple hoax threats have been reported in the region over the past two years, many delivered via anonymous emails referencing political leaders such as Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Investigators believe the pattern indicates a coordinated effort to spread panic rather than a credible terror plot.

Officials said Mann remains under medical observation and that no explosive devices were found at any location mentioned in the threats.
