The Colombian singer last performed in India in 2007 during her “Oral Fixation” tour, also in Mumbai. Since then, her global profile has expanded with multiple chart-topping hits such as Hips Don't Lie, Whenever, Wherever, and Waka Waka, as well as numerous international awards, including three Grammys and 15 Latin Grammys.

Beyond music, Shakira is active in humanitarian work through her Barefoot Foundation, which promotes education and child welfare. Organisers said this mission complements Feeding India’s ongoing campaigns against food insecurity.

The event also supports the United Nations “Zero Hunger 2030” goal, reflecting a broader effort to connect entertainment platforms with global development initiatives. Industry observers note that large-scale international concerts tied to social causes are becoming more common, as artists increasingly use their influence to support advocacy campaigns.
