Man dressed as Pushpa in saree and bangles got VIP darshan at Ujjain’s Mahakal temple. Staff clicked photos. Supervisor removed after viral video.

Viral video shows staff clicking photos with saree-clad visitor despite ban on photography inside Ujjain temple premises

A young man dressed as Allu Arjun’s character from the film Pushpa — complete with saree, blouse, payal, lemon garland, and bangles — walked into the Mahakal temple here for a VIP darshan, triggering a row over security lapses. The incident, which took place on February 5, came to light after videos surfaced on social media over the weekend.

The temple management has since removed a supervisor after an internal inquiry.

Viral visuals show protocol breach

In the clips circulating on Instagram and Facebook, the man is seen moving through different parts of the temple complex. A staff member escorts him to the Ganesh Mandapam, treating him like a VIP devotee. Security personnel and temple committee employees did not stop him. Instead, they posed for photographs with him.

Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the Mahakal temple premises. The responsibility of enforcing this ban lies with the very staff and guards who are now seen violating it.

What the video shows

The young man is dressed in a saree and blouse, with payal on his feet, a lemon garland and necklace around his neck, tops in his ears, a nose ring, and bangles on his wrists. He mimics the mannerisms of the Pushpa character in several clips.

According to sources familiar with the matter, he did not enter like an ordinary pilgrim. He was given special access, something regular devotees are not entitled to. The videos also show him filming himself inside the temple, which is not allowed for common visitors.

Social media backlash

The visuals, uploaded from an account named Ankit Astoliya on Instagram and Facebook, quickly went viral. Several other videos in the same outfit are available on that profile.

Users have criticised the temple administration for allowing such conduct. Many questioned how the man managed to enter with a full costume and accessories without being stopped at any checkpoint. Others pointed out that the staff’s willingness to take selfies with him shows a casual approach to protocol.

Official action taken

Mahakal temple administrator Pratham Kaushik confirmed that the video dates back to February 5. “After the visuals came to our notice, an inquiry was conducted. The concerned supervisor has been removed from his post,” he said.

Kaushik added that granting special permission to anyone inside the temple premises, or allowing photography and videography, goes against the established rules and decorum of the shrine.

Prior restrictions on photography

This is not the first time the Mahakal temple has faced controversy over mobile phone use. While devotees are routinely asked to deposit their phones before entering, instances of unauthorised recording have been reported earlier as well. The latest incident has once again raised questions about enforcement of existing rules.

Sources indicate that the temple trust may now review its security deployment and issue fresh guidelines to prevent such breaches in the future.

Police Crack Case in 24 Hours, Two Held Including a Minor

Tension gripped the Naliya Bakhal area under Mahakal police station limits after a young man was stabbed to death during a heated argument among friends late Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Mohit, son of Premnarayan Mansoria, was declared dead on arrival at Charak Hospital.

The incident occurred between 11 pm and midnight when a group of youths was chatting in the locality. According to preliminary investigation, a sudden dispute erupted after one youth slapped another, quickly escalating into a violent brawl. In the scuffle, Mohit was allegedly stabbed multiple times. Despite efforts by his friends to rush him to the hospital, doctors could not save him.

Local residents said the argument appeared minor at first but turned ugly within minutes. CCTV footage from the area, which has now surfaced, shows several youths engaged in a physical fight, though the actual stabbing moment remains partially obscured.

Police Swift Action

Mahakal police registered a case of murder based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father. Senior officers, including Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma and Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Sharma, along with Station House Officer Gagan Badal, formed a special team.

The team worked through the night, scanning CCTV footage from nearby locations and using technical surveillance. Within 24 hours, police claimed to have cracked the case.

Two persons were arrested — Eklavya Sharma, a resident of Pushkar Bawdi in the same Naliya Bakhal area, and a minor. Both have been taken into custody, and further interrogation is underway.

“Initial probe suggests the murder stemmed from a sudden flare-up during a casual conversation. We are questioning the accused to establish the exact sequence and role of each individual,” a senior police officer said.

Area Tense After Killing

News of the killing spread rapidly in the neighbourhood, prompting angry family members and locals to gather at the Mahakal police station. They demanded immediate arrests and strict action. Police had to deploy additional forces to maintain calm as protests continued late into the night.

Mohit’s family is said to be in deep shock. Relatives described him as a regular young man from the area with no known criminal background. Many locals expressed concern over rising incidents of youth violence in residential pockets of Ujjain, especially after dark.

Background of the Locality

Naliya Bakhal is a densely populated residential area close to the iconic Mahakaleshwar Temple. While the temple zone remains heavily policed due to tourist footfall, inner residential lanes often see such spontaneous gatherings of youngsters in the evenings. Police have previously conducted drives against illegal weapons in such pockets, but challenges remain.

This latest incident has once again highlighted questions about youth safety and the easy availability of knives in such confrontations. Many residents called for better street lighting and increased night patrolling in the area.

Investigation Ongoing

Officers said the arrested accused are being questioned to determine if the stabbing was pre-planned or occurred in the heat of the moment. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot, and the minor has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board as per protocol.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after post-mortem. The last rites are expected to be performed on Thursday or Friday, depending on family preparations.

Ujjain police have appealed to citizens to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumours. Senior officials assured that the investigation will be taken to its logical conclusion and no one will be spared.

This case marks yet another instance of swift police response in Ujjain, coming days after other law and order updates in the temple town. However, it has also triggered fresh discussions on how to prevent such avoidable tragedies among the youth.

A unique social and economic awareness campaign was witnessed during a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha event in Ujjain, where devotees were encouraged to reduce petrol and diesel consumption and avoid purchasing gold for one year. The initiative was linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal promoting fuel conservation and economic self-reliance.

The programme is being organised at Sant Leelashah Convent Higher Secondary School near Jeevajiganj police station in Ujjain from May 17 to May 23. Religious discourses are being conducted daily between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The development quickly drew attention as a Public Interest Story because of its connection with fuel conservation, economic awareness and environmental protection.

Santosh Maharaj Addresses Devotees

On the second day of the religious event, national saint Dr Santosh Maharaj from Amravati in Maharashtra addressed a large gathering of devotees. During the discourse, he narrated episodes related to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Mata Sati and King Daksha Prajapati from the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. Along with spiritual teachings, the preacher also delivered a message focused on national interest, environmental responsibility and economic discipline. He appealed to followers to consciously reduce the use of petrol and diesel in daily life. According to organisers, a large number of members from the Sindhi community attended the programme and participated in the pledge ceremony.

Appeal To Reduce Fuel Use

During the discourse, Santosh Maharaj urged people to avoid using petrol and diesel vehicles at least one day every week or month. He encouraged devotees to shift towards electric scooters, e-rickshaws and bicycles wherever possible.

He stated that reducing fuel consumption would not only help protect the environment but would also strengthen the country’s economy by lowering dependence on imported fuel. Devotees present at the event collectively took a pledge to contribute towards fuel conservation efforts. Organisers said the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for responsible energy consumption and economic awareness. The issue became part of the Latest News Today updates as discussions around fuel savings and environmental protection gained attention.

Gold Purchase Pledge

Another major highlight of the event was the appeal made by Santosh Maharaj asking devotees to avoid buying gold for one year. He said unnecessary spending on gold could be reduced in the interest of economic discipline and national development.

Followers attending the programme were asked to take a collective oath regarding the decision. According to organisers, many devotees supported the appeal and participated willingly in the pledge. The message was linked to broader concerns regarding economic stability, savings and responsible consumption practices. Organisers stated that the campaign aimed to spread awareness about balancing personal spending with larger national priorities.

First Sindhi Bhagwat Katha

Sindhi Panchayat president Daulat Khemchandani said this is the first time that a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha is being organised in the Sindhi language in Ujjain. He stated that the event has received strong support from the local Sindhi community.

Khemchandani added that the programme was also intended to spread social awareness alongside religious teachings. He said devotees were encouraged to avoid unnecessary fuel consumption, postpone foreign travel if possible and reduce non-essential spending. Organisers claimed the initiative reflected a combination of spiritual guidance and civic responsibility.

Environmental And Economic Message

Religious events in India often include social awareness campaigns linked to cleanliness, health and environmental protection. Observers noted that the Ujjain programme attempted to combine spiritual discourse with practical messages related to sustainable living and economic discipline.

Experts say fuel conservation and adoption of electric vehicles have become important policy discussions in recent years as India pushes towards cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions. At the same time, campaigns promoting mindful spending and savings have also gained traction amid changing economic conditions and rising living costs. The Ujjain event remained among the Trending News India developments because of the unusual pledge involving fuel use and gold purchases during a religious programme.

Petrol And Diesel Prices Rise Again By 90 Paise Per Litre

Fuel prices increased for the second time within five days as Chhindwara imposed sales limits and Ujjain religious event promoted fuel conservation.

Petrol and diesel prices increased by 90 paise per litre across the country from Tuesday, marking the second fuel price hike within less than a week. Earlier on May 15, oil companies had already raised prices by ₹3 per litre for both petrol and diesel.

Following the latest revision, petrol prices in Bhopal reached ₹110.75 per litre, while diesel climbed to ₹95.91 per litre. In Indore and Jabalpur, petrol prices increased to ₹110.79 per litre, while Gwalior recorded ₹110.69 per litre. Ujjain registered the highest petrol price among major cities in Madhya Pradesh at ₹111.27 per litre. Diesel prices also witnessed a fresh jump, touching ₹96.40 per litre in Ujjain. In Indore, diesel reached ₹95.97 per litre, while Jabalpur recorded ₹95.98 and Gwalior ₹95.86 per litre. The fuel price rise quickly became part of the Latest News Today developments due to its expected impact on transportation, agriculture and household expenses.

Chhindwara Imposes Fuel Limit

Amid concerns over fuel availability and increasing pressure on supply, petrol pumps in Chhindwara have introduced restrictions on fuel sales. Dealers have reportedly been instructed not to provide petrol or diesel beyond a fixed limit to consumers.

Under the current restrictions, two-wheelers are being supplied fuel worth only ₹200, while small cars are limited to ₹500 worth of petrol. Larger vehicles are reportedly being allowed a maximum of 50 litres of petrol and 200 litres of diesel. Sources said oil companies issued verbal instructions to dealers and have started strict online monitoring of stock levels and fuel sales at petrol pumps. Officials warned that if pumps exceed the prescribed fuel limit, dispensing machines could be locked immediately by the companies.

Supply Under Monitoring

Petrol pump operators stated that fresh fuel tankers are being dispatched only when existing stock reaches near depletion levels. In several locations, consumers are reportedly receiving fuel equivalent to nearly 25 percent of vehicle tank capacity.

The monitoring mechanism has intensified after rising crude oil prices increased operational pressure on oil marketing companies. Dealers indicated that authorities are attempting to prevent panic buying and ensure controlled distribution of available fuel stock until supply conditions stabilise. The restrictions in Chhindwara have raised concerns among commuters, transport operators and traders dependent on daily fuel consumption.

Ujjain Promotes Fuel Saving

Amid rising fuel prices, a religious gathering in Ujjain also promoted fuel conservation and responsible consumption. During a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha programme, devotees were asked to pledge reduced use of petrol and diesel vehicles.

National saint Dr Santosh Maharaj from Amravati urged followers to avoid using petrol and diesel vehicles for at least one day every week or month. He encouraged greater use of e-scooters, e-rickshaws and bicycles to reduce fuel dependence and support environmental protection. The event was organised at Sant Leelashah Convent Higher Secondary School in Ujjain, where devotees also took a pledge to avoid purchasing gold for one year. Organisers linked the initiative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal encouraging cautious use of petroleum products.

Daily Life May Get Costlier

Experts believe the latest fuel price hike could increase transportation and commodity costs in the coming weeks. Freight charges for trucks and commercial transport vehicles are expected to rise, potentially making vegetables, fruits and essential goods more expensive.

Agricultural costs may also increase because tractors, irrigation pumps and transport vehicles depend heavily on diesel. Economists warn that rising fuel prices could eventually affect food prices and rural production costs. Public transport fares, including buses, school transport and auto-rickshaws, may also witness upward revision if fuel prices remain elevated for a prolonged period. The issue has emerged as a major Public Interest Story because of its widespread economic impact on households and businesses.

Crude Oil Prices Behind Hike

According to officials, the latest fuel price increase has been triggered primarily by rising crude oil prices in the international market. Before escalating tensions involving Iran and the United States, crude oil prices were reportedly around 70 dollars per barrel. However, global crude prices have now crossed the 100-dollar-per-barrel mark, increasing pressure on oil marketing companies. Government officials stated that public sector oil companies including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum were facing heavy financial losses because of rising import costs. Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma reportedly said oil companies were losing nearly ₹30,000 crore every month on the sale of petrol, diesel and LPG.

Baba Mahakal was adorned in royal form with silver ornaments and fragrant flowers during the traditional Bhasma Aarti held early Sunday morning in Ujjain.

The world-famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed deep religious fervour on Sunday morning as thousands of devotees attended the traditional Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal. The sacred ritual, held during the early hours before sunrise, drew pilgrims from different parts of Madhya Pradesh and several other states. Temple premises remained filled with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” as devotees waited for darshan of the Jyotirlinga in its divine royal form. The Bhasma Aarti, considered one of the most unique and spiritually significant rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva, began shortly after the temple doors were opened around 4 am.

As per temple traditions, priests and seers first performed rituals dedicated to all deities installed inside the sanctum sanctorum. The atmosphere inside the temple turned devotional as Vedic mantras echoed through the corridors. After the initial rituals, priests performed Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal using holy water. The deity was then worshipped with Panchamrit prepared from milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit juices. Temple authorities stated that every ritual was conducted according to ancient customs and long-established traditions associated with the Mahakaleshwar shrine.

During the ceremonial worship, priests offered sandalwood paste, bhang, tripund and trishul to Baba Mahakal before beginning the elaborate adornment process. Devotees present inside the temple watched the rituals with devotion as the Jyotirlinga was prepared for the sacred Bhasma offering. Following the Kapoor Aarti, the deity was covered with cloth as part of the traditional process before applying the holy ash. The sacred ash was offered by representatives of the Mahanirvani Akhara, which has historically been associated with the ritual. Religious beliefs associated with the ceremony state that Baba Mahakal gives divine manifested darshan after the offering of Bhasma.

After the completion of the Bhasma ritual, the priests performed the royal adornment of Baba Mahakal. The deity was decorated with a silver Sheshnag crown, silver mundmala and Rudraksha garlands. Fragrant garlands made from mogra and rose flowers were also offered during the ceremony. The floral decoration, combined with silver ornaments and traditional offerings, gave the Jyotirlinga a majestic royal appearance. Special offerings of fruits and sweets were presented as bhog after the completion of the adornment rituals.

Temple officials said the number of devotees attending Bhasma Aarti has continued to increase over the past few years, especially after the expansion and development of the Mahakal Lok corridor. Pilgrims from across the country regularly visit Ujjain to witness the early morning ritual, which is regarded as one of the most sacred traditions in Shaivism. Several devotees who attended Sunday’s ceremony described the experience as spiritually uplifting and emotionally significant. Many pilgrims reached the temple premises late at night to secure entry for the Bhasma Aarti.

Security and crowd management arrangements remained in place throughout the ceremony. Temple administration officials monitored the entry process to ensure smooth movement of devotees inside the premises. Volunteers and staff members guided pilgrims during darshan and ritual proceedings. Special arrangements were also made for elderly devotees and women attending the ceremony. Authorities maintained that the system introduced after the redevelopment of the temple complex has helped improve crowd management during major religious occasions.

Religious scholars say the Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple holds a special place among Hindu spiritual traditions because Lord Shiva is worshipped here in a form connected to both life and death. The offering of sacred ash symbolises detachment, mortality and spiritual awakening. According to mythology and temple traditions, Baba Mahakal is considered the ruler of time and death, making the Ujjain shrine one of the most revered Jyotirlingas in the country. The ritual continues to attract saints, ascetics and devotees seeking spiritual blessings and peace.

Ujjain has witnessed a steady rise in religious tourism in recent years due to large-scale infrastructure development around the temple area. Hotels, transport services and local businesses have also benefited from the increasing footfall of pilgrims visiting the city. Officials associated with the temple administration said efforts are continuously being made to improve facilities for visitors while preserving the spiritual and historical identity of the shrine. The Mahakaleshwar Temple remains one of the most important pilgrimage centres in India and continues to feature prominently during major Hindu festivals and religious events.

Ujjain Mayor Switches to E-Rickshaw After PM Modi’s Appeal

Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal began travelling by e-rickshaw on Fridays to promote fuel conservation following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce petrol and diesel usage.

The impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to reduce unnecessary use of petrol and diesel is now becoming visible in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city. Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal has decided to stop using his official car every Friday and instead travel through e-rickshaws, electric vehicles or by walking as part of a fuel conservation initiative.

The move comes at a time when fuel prices across the country, including Madhya Pradesh, have witnessed a sharp rise due to escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia and increasing international crude oil prices. The development has emerged as a major India News Update and reflects growing efforts by public representatives to encourage energy-saving practices. On Friday morning, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal reached Atal Park located on Kothi Road in an e-rickshaw instead of his official vehicle. During the visit, he interacted with local residents and appealed to people to adopt battery-operated vehicles wherever possible in order to reduce dependence on petrol and diesel.

The mayor later travelled through three different wards of the city using the same e-rickshaw while inspecting civic works and public facilities. Residents gathered at several locations during the inspection and appreciated the initiative promoting eco-friendly transport options. Speaking to media persons during the visit, Tatwal said the ongoing tensions involving Iran, the United States and other West Asian countries have affected global fuel markets, making fuel conservation increasingly important for the country’s economic stability.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently appealed to citizens to use imported petroleum products carefully in view of the international situation. Inspired by the appeal, the mayor decided to dedicate every Friday to fuel-saving practices by avoiding conventional fuel-driven vehicles. Tatwal stated that the initiative was not only symbolic but also aimed at creating public awareness regarding responsible fuel usage. According to him, small changes adopted collectively by citizens and government departments could significantly reduce fuel consumption and lower economic pressure caused by rising crude oil prices.

The mayor further indicated that if the initiative proves successful, he may continue following the practice even after the present global crisis subsides. He said promoting sustainable transport and environmentally friendly travel habits should become a long-term public movement. Apart from personally adopting the practice, the mayor also appealed to municipal corporation officials and elected councillors to participate in the campaign. He urged them to avoid using private or official cars at least once every week and instead use electric vehicles, e-rickshaws, bicycles or walking for shorter distances.

According to Tatwal, nearly 45 municipal corporation officers currently use official vehicles for daily administrative work. He estimated that if all officers switch to alternative transport methods one day every week, nearly 250 litres of petrol could be saved weekly. Officials said the proposal is also being viewed as part of broader efforts to promote green mobility and environmentally sustainable transportation in urban areas. Electric vehicles and battery-operated public transport have gained increasing attention in recent years due to concerns related to pollution and rising fuel costs.

The mayor’s initiative comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people during a public programme in Telangana to exercise restraint in the use of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. The Prime Minister had stressed that careful use of imported petroleum products would help reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves and lessen the economic impact of global conflicts.

Madhya Pradesh recently witnessed a steep increase in fuel prices after oil companies revised petrol and diesel rates following a surge in global crude oil prices. In major cities including Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain, petrol prices crossed Rs 109 per litre, while diesel prices also increased significantly. The rising fuel costs have prompted several government departments and civic bodies in the state to discuss measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and promoting alternative modes of transport.

Residents in Ujjain reacted positively to the mayor’s initiative, with many saying public representatives adopting such practices could encourage ordinary citizens to become more conscious about fuel conservation. Environmental experts also welcomed the move and noted that small policy-level and behavioural changes can contribute to long-term sustainability goals. They said encouraging electric mobility and reducing dependence on fossil fuels are essential for both economic and environmental reasons.

Political observers believe the initiative also carries symbolic value because it demonstrates alignment between local governance and national-level appeals on energy conservation. Similar efforts by elected representatives could become more common if fuel prices continue to remain high.

A special “Shri Balaji Sarvagrah Dosh Shanti Yagya” was organised at the Moni Teerth Ashram in Ujjain on Tuesday night, with devotees from across the country participating through online platforms. The organisers said the decision to conduct the religious event virtually was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve fuel and promote digital participation.

Social media influencer-turned-sadhvi Harsha Richhariya, now known as Harshanand, and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Sumananand Giri Maharaj performed the rituals and offered prayers during the yajna dedicated to Lord Balaji and Lord Hanuman.

Rituals Performed Traditionally

The yagya was held at the Moni Teerth Ashram located on Mangalnath Road in Ujjain. Organisers said Vedic rituals and offerings were performed with traditional chants for planetary peace and spiritual well-being. The ceremony was conducted under the banner of “Book My Katha”, which arranged the digital live streaming of the event for devotees who could not travel to Ujjain.

Devotees Joined Online

According to the organisers, devotees from cities including Delhi, Bhopal, Indore, Noida and several parts of Uttarakhand joined the ritual virtually. A live feed was provided through digital platforms, allowing participants to watch the prayers and join the ceremony from their homes. Organisers claimed that interest in online religious events has increased significantly in recent years, especially among people unable to travel due to distance, health concerns or time constraints.

PM Modi’s Appeal Cited

Speaking during the event, Harshanand said the online format was adopted in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and the promotion of Digital India initiatives. She said virtual participation in religious activities can help reduce unnecessary travel, save fuel and support environmental conservation efforts. According to organisers, the initiative was aimed at combining spirituality with responsible resource usage.

Significance of Jyeshtha Tuesdays

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Sumananand Giri Maharaj said Tuesdays in the Hindu month of Jyeshtha hold special religious importance. He stated that special offerings and chants were performed for “Sarvagrah Shanti”, which devotees believe helps remove planetary obstacles and brings positive energy. He added that rituals dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Balaji during this period are considered spiritually beneficial by followers.

Rise of Digital Religious Events

Online religious events and virtual darshan services have expanded rapidly over the past few years, particularly after the Covid-19 pandemic. Several temples and spiritual organisations now conduct live-streamed rituals, kathas and prayer ceremonies to connect with followers across the country and abroad. Religious organisers believe digital platforms have widened access to spiritual events and increased participation among younger audiences familiar with online services.

Bookings Received Nationwide

The organisers said devotees from multiple states had registered in advance for the special yajya conducted on the second major Tuesday of the Jyeshtha month. The ceremony focused on planetary peace, spiritual positivity and traditional Hindu rituals. Limited physical attendance was allowed at the ashram, while a much larger audience joined through the live online broadcast, organisers added.

The impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s appeal for fuel conservation is now visible in Ujjain administration’s functioning. From Wednesday, senior administrative officials in Ujjain started travelling together in a single traveller bus instead of using multiple government vehicles for inspection of Simhastha-related works. Officials said the move was aimed at reducing unnecessary fuel consumption, lowering government expenditure, and minimising traffic congestion during official inspections.

Officials Travel Together

On Wednesday morning, nearly 15 senior officers travelled together in an Urbania traveller vehicle to inspect the 29-kilometre-long ghat development area being prepared for the upcoming Simhastha fair in Ujjain. The inspection team included Divisional Commissioner and Simhastha Mela Officer Ashish Singh, Collector Roshan Kumar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Abhilash Mishra, UDA CEO Sandeep Soni, Tehsildar Alok Chore, and officers from the Water Resources Department, traffic police, and other departments. Officials jointly reviewed construction activities and infrastructure arrangements being developed for pilgrims expected during the religious gathering.

Daily Inspection Continues

Administrative officials have been conducting regular inspections of Simhastha preparations for the last one week.Earlier, officers from different departments used to reach the inspection site in nearly 15 separate vehicles every day. These included SUVs and official cars belonging to departments such as PWD, Revenue, Municipal Corporation, Water Resources, and Police.Officials generally travelled nearly 16 kilometres daily during inspections apart from additional travel from their official residences to the ghat area. According to administrative estimates, most vehicles used for inspections were high-fuel-consumption SUVs with air conditioners running continuously during field visits.

Major Reduction in Fuel Use

Officials explained that fuel consumption and expenditure have reduced significantly after the shift to a common traveller bus. Earlier, each vehicle reportedly consumed nearly four litres of fuel during inspection rounds. Based on the number of vehicles involved, daily expenditure on petrol and diesel was estimated at around Rs 6,750.

However, on the first day of the new arrangement, the traveller bus reportedly covered nearly 12 kilometres while consuming only around 2.5 litres of diesel. Officials said the fuel expense for the bus trip remained below Rs 250, though the vehicle itself has been hired at a daily rental cost of around Rs 4,100. The administration believes the move will still result in overall savings by reducing multiple vehicle usage and operational expenses.

Traffic Pressure Also Reduced

Collector Roshan Kumar Singh said the earlier practice of multiple government vehicles moving together created unnecessary traffic pressure in the city. He stated that a convoy of several official vehicles often caused inconvenience to regular commuters and increased congestion near inspection routes. Now, with all officials travelling in one vehicle, both fuel use and traffic-related issues are expected to reduce considerably. Officials described the initiative as a practical administrative reform that could be adopted in other government activities as well.

Inspection of Simhastha Works

The inspections are focused on preparations for Simhastha, one of the largest religious gatherings in the country, where crores of devotees are expected to arrive in Ujjain. Authorities are currently reviewing development of ghats, approach roads, public facilities, traffic arrangements, and infrastructure projects linked to the event. Officials begin inspections early in the morning and also conduct foot surveys covering nearly six kilometres daily to examine on-ground progress. During the visits, officers issue instructions to contractors and department teams regarding quality, timelines, and public convenience. Construction and beautification works are currently underway at several ghats along the Shipra river.

Administration Stresses Teamwork

Simhastha Mela Officer Ashish Singh said the new travel arrangement was introduced in line with the fuel-saving message given by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. He stated that earlier, officers from different departments travelled separately, leading to avoidable fuel consumption and higher government expenditure. Travelling together in one vehicle, he said, would not only save fuel but also strengthen coordination and teamwork among officials. Administrative officers believe discussions during shared travel will also improve communication and faster decision-making during field inspections.

The initiative is being viewed as a symbolic but significant step towards promoting fuel conservation and environmentally responsible governance. Experts say government departments adopting shared transportation methods can reduce fuel dependency and help lower emissions in urban areas. The move has also generated discussion among citizens regarding efficient use of public resources and reduction in VIP-style vehicle movement. The administration’s decision comes amid wider national conversations around energy conservation, sustainable transport, and responsible governance practices. Officials indicated that similar measures may be considered for other government inspection activities in future if the model proves effective.

The spiritual atmosphere inside the temple complex remained filled with devotional chants and traditional rituals during the ceremony. According to temple authorities, the sacred rituals began before dawn with priests opening the temple gates after performing customary prayers and seeking ritual permission as per ancient traditions.

Traditional Rituals Performed

The Mahakal Bhasma Aarti commenced with priests first offering prayers to Veerbhadra Ji before the silver gates of the sanctum were opened. Following this, temple priests removed the previous adornments of Baba Mahakal and carried out ceremonial worship with full Vedic rituals. The rituals included jalabhishek and Panchamrit pujan using milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, and fruit juices. Temple priests later performed camphor aarti amid continuous chanting of mantras. Officials said the rituals were conducted according to long-established temple traditions observed daily during the sacred Mahakal Bhasma Aarti.

Special Shringar of Mahakal

During the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti, Baba Mahakal was decorated in a grand and divine form using traditional ornaments and sacred offerings. Priests adorned the deity with sandalwood paste, bhang, vermilion, flowers, and silver ornaments. A silver Sheshnag crown, silver mundmala, and Rudraksha garlands were placed on the deity. Fragrant flower garlands further enhanced the spiritual ambience inside the sanctum. Temple devotees described the appearance of Baba Mahakal as deeply devotional and spiritually uplifting during the morning ceremony.

Nandi Hall Rituals Conducted

Alongside the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti, rituals were also performed in the Nandi Hall of the temple complex. Priests conducted ceremonial bathing, meditation, and worship of Nandi Maharaj as part of the daily spiritual practices associated with the temple. After the completion of Panchamrit rituals, offerings including dry fruits, sweets, and fruits were presented before Baba Mahakal. Temple authorities stated that every ritual followed traditional Shaivite customs maintained at the ancient shrine. The temple premises witnessed a steady flow of devotees throughout the morning hours.

Sacred Ash Offered

A major highlight of the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti remained the offering of sacred ash to Baba Mahakal. The holy ash was offered by the Maha Nirvani Akhada according to temple customs. As per religious belief, Baba Mahakal appears before devotees in a divine physical form after the offering of the sacred ash during the ceremony. This tradition continues to attract thousands of pilgrims and Shiva devotees to Ujjain every year. Religious scholars associated with the temple describe the ritual as one of the most unique spiritual traditions in India.

Devotees Gather in Large Numbers

Hundreds of devotees attended the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti and sought blessings of Baba Mahakal during the early morning rituals. Many devotees reached the temple complex during the night to participate in the ceremony. Temple management officials maintained crowd arrangements and ensured smooth darshan for visitors. Security personnel and volunteers remained deployed inside the temple premises to regulate the movement of devotees. Pilgrims from several states were seen participating in prayers and chanting devotional hymns throughout the ceremony.

Spiritual Importance Continues

The Mahakal Bhasma Aarti remains one of the most significant spiritual attractions in Madhya Pradesh and continues to draw devotees from India and abroad. Religious experts believe the ritual symbolises the eternal nature of life and devotion associated with Lord Shiva. Temple authorities stated that arrangements for devotees continue to be strengthened due to the increasing footfall at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. The daily ceremony also remains an important part of spiritual tourism in Ujjain. The Mahakal Bhasma Aarti continues to hold deep religious significance among Shiva devotees and remains a major spiritual event in India’s temple traditions.

Ujjain-Nagda joint operation foils alleged attempt to traffic minors to Ahmedabad for labour; probe focuses on four suspects and exact intent

In a swift late-night operation, authorities rescued 26 minor children from the Antyodaya Express amid suspicions of child trafficking. The train, reportedly heading towards Ahmedabad in Gujarat, was halted at Ujjain and then at Nagda railway stations on Thursday night after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) received specific intelligence.

According to officials, the tip-off suggested that around 100 children were being transported from Muzaffarnagar area for possible work in Gujarat. Acting immediately, teams from four police stations in Ujjain, along with Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), Labour Department, and Women and Child Development officials were put on alert.

The operation began around 11 pm when the train reached Ujjain station. Teams conducted searches and questioned over 50 children and accompanying adults for nearly half an hour. Initial checks led to the rescue of four minors. However, the train departed before the search could be completed.

Coordinated Action at Two Stations

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Deepika Shinde, who led the effort, promptly alerted Nagda station. The train was stopped there, and a fresh round of intensive checking continued for about an hour. This yielded 22 more minors, bringing the total to 26 children rescued.

Local authorities confirmed that all rescued children are minors, with at least two aged below 14 years. They have been handed over to the Ujjain GRP and placed under the care of the local Child Welfare Committee for now. Efforts are underway to contact their families and determine the next course of action.

Sources familiar with the matter said the children appeared to be from outside Madhya Pradesh, and initial questioning revealed mixed statements. While police suspect they were being taken for labour in Gujarat, some children mentioned going to places like Somnath for a visit. Such conflicting accounts have deepened the probe.

Labour Department Input and Ongoing Probe

Assistant Labour Commissioner Rakhi Joshi stated that intelligence indicated four individuals were escorting over 100 minors towards Gujarat. “We are ascertaining the exact purpose and identifying those responsible,” she added.

The search operation extended until around 3 am, reflecting the urgency shown by multiple departments working in coordination. No immediate arrests were reported from the spot, but investigations are continuing to trace the handlers and verify documents—or the lack of them.

This incident comes weeks after a similar large-scale rescue in Madhya Pradesh. In April, authorities in Katni intercepted over 160 minor boys from the Patna-Pune Express, suspecting trafficking from Bihar towards Maharashtra for labour. In that case, eight persons were booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for child trafficking.

Rising Concern Over Interstate Child Movement

Child rights activists and officials have repeatedly highlighted the vulnerability of minors during interstate travel, especially on long-distance trains where groups often travel without adequate paperwork or parental consent. Railways remain a preferred route for such movements due to relatively lower scrutiny in crowded general or sleeper coaches.

In Ujjain and Nagda, the prompt action prevented the children from travelling further. Senior officers said the rescued minors are being counselled and provided necessary care. Their statements are being recorded carefully, keeping in mind their age and the sensitivity of the case.

District authorities are also cross-checking with Muzaffarnagar and other possible source areas to map the network, if any. The Labour Department is examining possible violations of child labour laws, while CWC will decide on rehabilitation and repatriation once family details are verified.

Public Alert and Future Steps

Railway officials have been asked to remain vigilant on similar routes, particularly trains heading towards Gujarat and Maharashtra from northern states. Regular checks during night hours and better coordination between RPF, GRP, and district child protection units are likely to be strengthened.

For now, the 26 children are safe in Ujjain. Their rescue underscores both the risks faced by vulnerable minors and the effectiveness of timely intelligence-sharing among agencies. The full picture—whether this was organised trafficking for labour, migration for other purposes, or something else—will emerge only after detailed investigation.

Police and CWC teams continue questioning and documentation work. Further updates are expected as more details about the accompanying adults and their intentions surface in the coming days.

Ujjain stadium assault case sparks outrage after coach alleges assault, threats and misuse of influence; police begin probe into the incident

Lead Incident Details

A Ujjain stadium assault case has come to light after a shooting coach accused the stadium incharge of physical assault and intimidation inside the Nanakheda Stadium shooting range. The incident, which reportedly occurred on April 22, has triggered a police inquiry following the emergence of a video clip submitted as evidence.

What Happened Inside

According to the complaint, shooting coach Viraj Parihar alleged that stadium incharge Ramkumar Mishra entered the shooting range in the evening and began verbally abusing him before turning violent. The coach claimed he was slapped, punched and forcibly pushed out of the range in full public view.

Parihar stated that the altercation escalated despite attempts by others present at the venue to intervene and defuse the situation.

Trigger Behind Dispute

The dispute reportedly began earlier in the day when Parihar informed Mishra via WhatsApp about lights being left on and the range remaining unlocked after cleaning work. The coach alleged that he received no response, but the issue later led to confrontation when Mishra arrived at the facility around 7:20 pm.

Sources indicated that the situation quickly spiralled into a heated exchange followed by physical aggression.

Serious Threat Allegations

In his complaint, Parihar further alleged that Mishra issued threats to his life and family. He claimed the incharge warned him that he would be attacked wherever found and invoked his family’s alleged influence, stating his sons held positions as a police station incharge (TI) and a patwari.

The coach also alleged that Mishra claimed prior experience in law enforcement and suggested that police action against him would not be possible.

Previous Incidents Surface

The complaint also refers to earlier incidents involving the same official. Parihar alleged that on April 19, Mishra entered the shooting range without permission and pointed a loaded pistol barrel towards him in the presence of players.

Additionally, a separate dispute involving a badminton coach earlier in the week was cited, where intervention by sports authorities was reportedly required to resolve tensions.

Police Response and Probe

Police officials confirmed that complaints have been filed by both parties. Nanakheda police station incharge Narendra Yadav stated that an investigation is underway and action will follow based on findings.

Authorities are currently examining the video evidence submitted by the complainant along with statements from witnesses present during the incident.

Impact on Sports Environment

The Ujjain stadium assault case has raised concerns over safety and discipline within public sports facilities. Coaches and players have reportedly expressed unease over the alleged pattern of behaviour, with claims that staff and athletes have previously been threatened.

The episode highlights the need for stricter oversight and accountability in managing government-run sports infrastructure, especially where young athletes are involved.

What Lies Ahead

Officials indicated that further action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing inquiry. Administrative authorities may also review conduct protocols for stadium management staff in light of the incident.

As the investigation progresses, the Ujjain stadium assault case remains under close watch, with potential disciplinary and legal consequences expected if allegations are substantiated.
