In Raigad district's Chal police station area, a speeding pickup carrying 25-30 Rathia community members overturned into a deep gorge on Madwatola-Jamraga road around 8 PM. The group was returning from an engagement ceremony (sagai) in Gosainpodi village after offering fruits.

Brake failure is cited as the cause, with the driver fleeing the scene. Rescue efforts by locals and police saved many, but four succumbed during treatment at Kapu Hospital: Kalaram Rathia, Chhatrasinh Rathia, and two others. About 20 were injured, including Niiraj, Devendra, and Balsinh Rathia; some with fractured limbs and head injuries. Eight critical cases were referred to Raigad Medical College.

Police have registered a case and are hunting the absconding driver to probe negligence.

Balod School Van Rolls into Drain: Girl Killed

In Balod's Doundi area, a school van from Azad Public School plunged 45 meters backward into a 6-foot-deep drain near Marartola around 3:30 PM. Carrying 22 students from classes 1-5, the vehicle stalled on a slope, rolled uncontrollably, and crashed.

Locals rushed to pull out the children. Tragically, 6-year-old Vedanshi Sahu from Limhatola died; her father Chiman Sahu had passed away just six months ago in a tractor accident on July 27, 2025. Thirteen others were injured and rushed to hospital.

Driver error led to the failure to control the reverse slide.
