Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre’s proposed Viksit Bharat–Rozgar Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Guarantee (VB-GRAM-G) Bill, calling it an assault on the rights of the rural poor and a move to dismantle the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Addressing a national conference of MGNREGA workers in the capital, Gandhi urged workers and marginalised communities to unite against what he described as the dilution of a rights-based welfare law.
