Ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, the Union Home Ministry on Sunday announced gallantry awards and service medals for 982 personnel from police, fire services, home guards, civil defence, and correctional services, recognising acts of bravery, distinguished service, and sustained commitment to duty. Separately, Kirti Chakra awards to three Army officers and Shaurya Chakra honours to 13 personnel were also announced as part of the Republic Day honours.
