The sacred Hartalika Teej fast starts today with Karu Bhaat. Devotees observe Nirjala Vrat, seeking marital bliss, prosperity, and blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Hartalika Teej, one of the major fasts of Sawan-Bhadon, will be celebrated on 26th August this time. Married women will observe Nirjala fast on this day, wishing for their husband's long life, marital happiness and prosperity. A day before the fast, on Monday, according to tradition, Karu Bhaat i.e. bitter gourd vegetable and rice will be eaten, which is specially consumed by fasting women. After this, Nirjala fast will start from midnight.
Hartalika Teej 2025. According to religious beliefs, the festival of Hartalika Teej is a symbol of the holy union of Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva. It is believed that by observing this fast with full devotion and rituals, married life becomes happy and the husband's life is long. On this day, women worship Lord Shiva-Parvati by wearing new clothes and makeup, listen to the story and stay awake all night.
