Karwa Chauth 2025: Moonrise Time, Auspicious Muhurat, and Inauspicious Periods

Today, Friday, October 10, 2025, marks the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. On this day, the worship of Lord Ganesha holds special significance, as he is regarded as the remover of obstacles. Devotees believe that praying to him helps eliminate all kinds of troubles. However, according to astrology, this tithi is not considered favorable for initiating new ventures or auspicious works, so it is advisable to avoid starting anything new today.

Today, the festival of Karwa Chauth is being celebrated across India. Married women observe a nirjala fast (without food and water) for the long life and well-being of their husbands. The fast is broken after sighting the moon, which, according to the Panchang, will rise tonight at 8:13 PM. Women will complete their fast during this auspicious moment by drinking water from their husbands’ hands.

This Nakshatra is believed to yield mixed results. Individuals engaged in competitive activities, labor-intensive work, or industries related to metals are likely to experience success today. However, this period is not considered auspicious for new beginnings or large investments.

Inauspicious Periods (Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, etc.)

Before undertaking any auspicious activity or beginning a journey, it is essential to note the inauspicious periods of the day:

  • Rahu Kaal: 10:58 AM – 12:26 PM
  • Yamaganda: 3:22 PM – 4:50 PM

No new or auspicious activity should be initiated during these times. Similarly, one should also avoid undertaking important tasks during Doomuhurat and Varjyam periods.

Karwa Chauth Special

Along with Karwa Chauth, the monthly Kartigai festival is also being observed today. Women, dressed in traditional attire, will offer prayers to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Listening to the Karwa Chauth Katha (story) and performing Deepdan (lighting lamps) in the evening is considered highly auspicious. After moonrise, offering Arghya (water) to the Moon and praying for their husbands’ long life concludes the ritual.

Advice and Best Wishes

According to astrologers, today symbolizes devotion, discipline, and faith. Consulting the Panchang before undertaking any auspicious activity ensures success and positive results.
