In religious beliefs, hundreds of festivals, celebrations and fasts are celebrated throughout the year, but Mahalaxmi Vrat is such a wonderful coincidence that it is customary to celebrate it in Shradh Paksha. This year this fast will be kept on Sunday, September 14. It is believed that by worshiping Mahalaxmi seated on an elephant on this day, the family gets stable Lakshmi and permanent happiness and prosperity resides in the house. While no auspicious work is done in Shradh Paksha, Mahalaxmi Vrat is observed on the Ashtami date of Shradh Paksha. This fast starts from Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami and lasts for 16 days and ends on Ashwin Krishna Ashtami.

Women wear clean clothes after taking bath in the morning. An idol of Goddess Lakshmi riding on an elephant or an elephant made of clay is installed and lamps, incense, flowers and offerings are offered. Offering water with 108 Durva grass has been given special importance.
