The holy month of Sawan 2025 commences on Friday, July 11, and concludes on Saturday, August 9; during this period four Mondays (July 14, 21, 28 and August 4) fall, all highly auspicious for Sawan Somwar vrat.
Sawan 2025: The month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva, special worship is done in this month. This month is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar. Devotees worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati throughout the month of Sawan, but Mondays of this month have special significance. This time Sawan will start from 11th July and is going to end on 9th August.
According to the Sanatan tradition, from Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes into Yognidra in Kshir Sagar and during this period Lord Shiva takes over the management of the universe. This time is called 'Chaturmas', which is completely a symbol of religion, penance, fasting and restraint. In the month of Sawan, devotees keep fast and worship Lord Shiva with rituals. It is believed that by fasting on Sawan Monday, Lord Shiva gets pleased quickly and fulfills every wish of the devotee.
When is the month of Sawan starting (Sawan 2025)
According to the Vedic calendar, the month of Sawan in the year 2025 is going to start from July 11, 2025. Before this, there is Ashadh Purnima on July 10, which will start from 1:36 pm on July 10 and will last till 2:06 pm on July 11. At the same time, if we talk about the end of the month of Sawan, then it is going to end on August 9.
The month of Sawan is considered the most sacred for the worship of Lord Shiva. During this time, if worship is done in the right way, then Bholenath is quickly pleased and fulfills all the wishes of the devotee.
Get up in the Brahma Muhurta in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Clean the house and the place of worship. Then sprinkle Gangajal in the entire house.
Bathe the Shivling with Gangajal and raw milk. After this, wash and clean it with pure water.
Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, white flowers, ash, sweets and cow milk on Shivling.
Chant Om Namah Shivaya mantra 108 times during worship. If you want, you can also recite 108 names of Lord Shiva.
Recite Shiva Chalisa and then do Shiva Aarti. In the end, pray to Lord Shiva with folded hands for happiness, prosperity and peace in your life.
