14th July 2025 is the first Monday of Sawan. Sawan Monday fast is considered to be the most sacred medium to get the special blessings of Mahadev. But do you know, just keeping fast on Monday is not enough, but before that it is also considered necessary to follow a religious resolution and the tradition of tying Mauli. This is an alliance of mind with Shiva, which is symbolically represented by tying Mauli.
What is necessary to do?
Take a resolution, at night or in the morning after bathing, say this in front of Shivling "O Bholenath! I take a resolution to observe Sawan Monday fast with devotion. Kindly make it successful.
Tie Mauli or Kalawa
While tying Mauli on the wrist, say this mantra "Mam Rakshartham Badhne Mauli Shivvratay Namah." This is a symbol of religious union – which shows that you are now connected to the rules of Shiva-bhakti.
Why is this process important?
Sankalp is a symbol of spiritual preparation. Mauli is a sign of protection and power. It is also said in Shivpuran. Accepting the fast in the mind before the fast is half the virtue.
