The secret of offering water from a copper pot: How water offered to the Sun can change your fate

After a morning bath, a person is purified, both physically and mentally. This is the time when we thank the Sun God, the energy source of our lives, by offering him Arghya and start the day positively.

Offering water to the Sun every morning after bathing is an ancient tradition. But have you ever wondered what are the scientific and spiritual reasons behind this tradition?

Water filters the sun's rays
When we offer water from a pot, the stream of water coming out of its edge filters the sun's rays like a prism. This gives relief to the eyes and the body starts getting Vitamin D.

A state of meditation is created
When a person meditatively faces the Sun and offers water by saying 'Om Suryaya Namah', then the mind becomes concentrated. This is a kind of Pranayama process, which gives mental peace.

The body becomes active after bathing. While offering water, standing straight, raising hands and looking towards the sun - all these are yogic postures, which awaken the body at the beginning of the day.

What should be the right time for offering water?

Within 30 minutes of sunrise, when the sun is in its redness. After Brahmamuhurta, take a bath and face towards the east. Use pure water from a copper vessel (a little basil or kumkum can be added to it).

Precautions are also important

While offering water, wash your feet and stand on the ground. Do not pour water directly on the ground. Pour it at the root of basil or a plant or in a clean place. Remain silent or chant while offering water. Avoid mobile or talking.
