‘Border 2’ Crosses ₹230 Crore in India; Sunny Deol Celebrates Film’s Success

Sunny Deol’s action-drama Border 2 has achieved a major milestone, earning over ₹230 crore in India within just eight days of its release. Released on January 23, 2026, the film has already grossed approximately ₹322.5 crore worldwide, including ₹41 crore from overseas markets, according to Sacnilk reports.

On its eighth day, the film earned ₹11 crore domestically, following a seventh-day collection of ₹11.25 crore. The total net earnings in India now stand at ₹235.25 crore. Analysts predict that Border 2 could surpass the ₹350 crore mark worldwide by the second weekend, driven by strong audience engagement and positive word-of-mouth.

Sunny Deol celebrated the success with fans and his team in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. At a hotel gathering, he cut a cake emblazoned with “Congratulations Border 2” and shared it with team members. A team member, affectionately referred to as “Bahubali Ji,” presented Deol with a bouquet and embraced him, congratulating him on the film’s record-breaking performance. Deol also expressed gratitude toward audiences, posting a video in which he said, “How far did the voice go? To your hearts. Thank you very much, love you all.” His social media caption added, “Thank you very much to all of you for giving so much love to my, your, our Border 2.”

Border 2 is the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, and reunites Deol with a new ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film has been praised for its patriotic narrative, high-octane action sequences, and ensemble performances.

The strong opening weekend followed by consistent weekday collections underscores the film’s broad appeal across urban and regional markets. Box office analysts suggest that the film’s nostalgic connection to the original Border, combined with contemporary storytelling and star power, has contributed to its commercial success.

Deol’s personal engagement with fans in Kullu-Manali, including taking photos, interacting in theatres, and celebrating publicly, has further strengthened audience goodwill and enhanced the promotional impact of the film. Industry experts note that this hands-on approach often correlates with sustained box office momentum.

With Border 2 continuing to perform strongly both domestically and internationally, the film is set to become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood releases of 2026, reaffirming Sunny Deol’s enduring box office appeal.
