The teaser of the much-anticipated war drama Border 2 was unveiled at a grand event in Mumbai on Tuesday, marking actor Sunny Deol’s first promotional appearance since the recent demise of his father, veteran actor Dharmendra. Deol was joined on stage by co-stars Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty, along with director Anurag Singh and the film’s producers.
The event was attended by producers Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Nidhi Dutta of JP Films, and co-producer Shiv Chanana. The teaser launch drew significant attention, offering the first glimpse of the film’s scale and tone, with the lead actors seen in intense military avatars, wielding heavy weaponry and performing high-octane action sequences.
Border 2 features an ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in key roles. The teaser showcases varied battle settings, from rugged mountain terrain to coastal combat zones, reinforcing the film’s patriotic and war-driven narrative. Diljit Dosanjh appears briefly in uniform, suggesting a substantial role in the storyline.
Earlier in the day, producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, along with Ahan Shetty, visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple to seek blessings for the film’s success, a customary gesture ahead of major releases.
The film had recently courted controversy after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) raised objections to Diljit Dosanjh’s casting, citing his previous collaboration with a Pakistani actress. The body argued that such associations were inappropriate for a patriotic film. The issue was resolved after the makers submitted a written appeal stating that Dosanjh’s portion had already been shot and replacing him would cause significant financial losses. FWICE subsequently withdrew its objections, subject to future compliance with its guidelines.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is positioned as a successor to the 1997 blockbuster Border, one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic war films. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, and is expected to be a major Republic Day season offering.
