‘Krrish 4’ Put on Hold After Budget Disagreement Between Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra

The much-anticipated Bollywood superhero film Krrish 4 has been put on hold following a disagreement over its proposed budget, casting uncertainty over the future of one of Indian cinema’s most successful franchises. The delay comes after months of preparation, including script development and pre-production planning, according to industry sources.

The fourth installment of the Krrish series, led by actor Hrithik Roshan, was expected to mark his return as the masked superhero after more than a decade. Reports indicate that Roshan, who was also set to make his directorial debut with the film, envisioned the project on a grand scale with a budget of approximately ₹500 crore. However, producer Aditya Chopra and his team reportedly pegged the budget closer to ₹350 crore, leading to prolonged discussions without consensus.

As a result, production has been temporarily halted. Sources familiar with the development say the disagreement is purely financial and not related to creative differences. The scale of visual effects, international action sequences, and advanced technology planned for the film are believed to have contributed significantly to the higher budget estimate.

Krrish 4 has been in development for several years, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the franchise that began with Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) and continued with Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). The earlier films were major commercial successes and helped establish India’s first mainstream superhero universe.

According to reports, Hrithik Roshan is now in discussions with other studios to explore alternative production arrangements. Insiders suggest that he is open to revisiting the script and restructuring the project to align better with a revised budget. Industry sources also indicate that Roshan has taken Aditya Chopra’s feedback constructively and is working on a new plan that could revive the project.

At present, no official statement has been issued by either Hrithik Roshan or the production house. Trade analysts say large-scale films of this nature often face delays due to financial planning, especially at a time when production costs and audience expectations are both high.

While the pause has disappointed fans, industry observers believe the project is unlikely to be shelved permanently. Once budgetary concerns are resolved and a production partner is finalised, work on Krrish 4 could resume, with filming schedules and release timelines announced thereafter.

For now, the future of India’s iconic superhero remains on hold, with the film industry closely watching how negotiations unfold.
