‘Rangeela’ Returns to Theatres: Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar Set to Recreate the Magic

Bollywood’s 1995 classic Rangeela is set to make a grand comeback on the big screen. The romantic drama starring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff will be re-released in theatres on November 28, 2025, in a newly remastered 4K HD format, offering audiences a refreshed cinematic experience along with a special surprise.

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Rangeela remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated films, remembered for its vibrant storytelling, memorable performances, and A.R. Rahman’s iconic music. The film marked a defining moment in Hindi cinema, blending style, sound, and emotion in a way that set new benchmarks in the 1990s.

This re-release is part of Ultra Media’s “Ultra Rewind” initiative, aimed at restoring and reintroducing classic films to modern audiences with upgraded technology. The remastered version of Rangeela features enhanced sound design and visual quality, allowing viewers to experience the film as it was originally envisioned.

Sushil Kumar Agrawal, CEO of Ultra Media, said that Rangeela represents a golden chapter of Bollywood. “It’s a story of dreams, ambition, and unspoken love that continues to connect with audiences even today. The re-release will delight both longtime fans and new viewers,” he said, adding that a special surprise has been planned for the theatrical release.

With its return to cinemas, Rangeela will bring Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar’s beloved on-screen chemistry back to life, rekindling nostalgia for fans and introducing the magic of the 1990s to a new generation. The initiative continues Bollywood’s growing effort to revive timeless classics through modern cinematic restoration.
