‘Thama’ Sees Decline in Earnings; Fourth Day Collection Stalls at ₹9 Crore — Tough for Ayushmann’s Film to Recover Budget
Digital Desk
The box office performance of Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s new film ‘Thama’ is steadily declining.
After a strong opening on the first day, the film witnessed a significant drop in earnings on the fourth day. By Friday, the collection had fallen to just ₹9.55 crore, down from ₹13 crore on the third day.
Strong Start, Now Slowing Down
Released on 21 October, ‘Thama’ had a robust first-day collection of ₹24 crore. The second day saw earnings drop to ₹18.6 crore, followed by ₹13 crore on the third day. On the fourth day, the collection declined further to ₹9.55 crore, bringing the total domestic box office to ₹65.15 crore so far.
Madock Universe’s First Film Struggling to Recover Budget
‘Thama’ is the third film in Madock Films’ horror-comedy universe, following the massive successes of ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’. However, ‘Thama’ is underperforming. Reports indicate that the film’s budget is ₹145 crore, which now seems difficult to recover.
New Story, Slow Pace
While the film offers a fresh and unique world, audience reactions have been mixed. Social media users praised the visuals but criticized the storyline as weak.
Hoping for a Weekend Boost
Trade analysts believe the weekend holiday could help improve collections. If ‘Thama’ does not see a spike over the weekend, it could become one of Ayushmann Khurrana’s weakest-performing major films.
