Akshay Kumar Pens Heartfelt Note as Niece Simar Bhatia Prepares for Bollywood Debut with Ikkis

Akshay Kumar has expressed pride and deep emotion as his niece, Simar Bhatia, readies for her Bollywood debut in Ikkis. The film, directed by National Award-winner Sriram Raghavan, is scheduled to release on December 25.

Kumar shared the announcement late Tuesday on Instagram, posting Simar’s first look from the film. “Holding you in my arms as a little girl and now watching you step into the world of films, life has truly come full circle,” he wrote, recalling her childhood and the family’s long association with cinema.

In his note, the actor urged Simar to embrace the challenges ahead with the same determination he believes defines the Bhatia family. “Our funda is simple: work hard, work with your heart, and then witness the magic of the universe. I am very proud of you. The world is about to meet Simar Bhatia, but for me, you have always been a star,” he added. Simar is the daughter of Kumar’s sister, Alka Bhatia.

Ikkis tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, who was martyred in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The biographical drama features Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda, in the lead role as Khetarpal, while the late Dharmendra appears as the young officer’s father. The film marks Dharmendra’s final screen performance.

Raghavan’s film has generated notable anticipation, not only for its subject but also for its casting choices, combining fresh talent with veterans of Hindi cinema. Simar’s debut adds another layer of interest as she joins a project rooted in history, patriotism, and emotional depth.

With promotions underway and the film’s release set for the Christmas weekend, Ikkis is expected to draw attention for both its narrative strength and its ensemble, while marking the beginning of a new chapter for Simar Bhatia.
