Akshaye Khanna exits ‘Drishyam 3’ amid fee and creative differences: Reports
Digital Desk
Akshaye Khanna has reportedly stepped away from Drishyam 3, citing financial and creative disagreements with the makers, just weeks after the blockbuster success of his latest release Dhurandhar. The development, first reported by Bollywood Machine, has triggered uncertainty around the future of the popular crime-thriller franchise.
According to the report, talks between Khanna and the production team stalled during pre-production discussions. Following Dhurandhar’s unprecedented box office run—grossing nearly ₹900 crore worldwide in 19 days—the actor is said to have sought a revision in his remuneration along with changes to his on-screen look. The makers, however, were reportedly unwilling to accommodate these demands, leading to a breakdown in negotiations.
Sources indicate that neither side was prepared to compromise, prompting Khanna to withdraw from the project. As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the actor or the producers of Drishyam 3.
Khanna’s reported exit comes at a time when Dhurandhar has significantly elevated his market standing, earning him widespread critical acclaim. Industry observers note that the actor’s departure could force the makers to reconsider casting and timelines, given the franchise’s strong association with its principal characters.

The development mirrors a broader trend in the industry following Dhurandhar’s success. Lead actor Ranveer Singh has also reportedly exited Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. According to a Pinkvilla report, Singh chose to opt out to avoid being typecast in consecutive gangster films and is now keen to collaborate with filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee.
While speculation continues around casting changes and creative reshuffles, stakeholders await clarity from official channels. Until then, the fate of Drishyam 3 remains uncertain, underscoring how blockbuster success can swiftly alter equations in Bollywood’s high-stakes project negotiations.
