Alia Bhatt Receives Golden Globe Horizon Award at Red Sea Festival, Says She Is Open to Working in Pakistan

Alia Bhatt was honoured with the Golden Globe Horizon Award at the 5th Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah on Wednesday, marking her second appearance at the event. The festival, underway in Saudi Arabia since December 4, will conclude on December 13.

Bhatt received the recognition for her contribution to global cinema and her expanding international presence. Speaking after the ceremony, the actor said she felt “truly honoured” to be acknowledged on such a platform.

The evening also sparked conversation when a Pakistani fan asked Bhatt if she would ever visit their country. Without hesitation, she replied, “I will go wherever my work takes me,” signalling her openness to cross-border collaboration should an opportunity arise.

During a separate interaction, Bhatt addressed the familiar debate around nepotism in Bollywood. “If you bring something new to the table, everything is forgiven,” she said, adding that audiences ultimately respond to sincerity and the performance on screen.

Bhatt also reflected on how motherhood has reshaped her life. She shared light-heartedly that her daughter Raha, now more aware, often asks her where she is headed before she leaves for shoots or events. The actor noted that Raha has even developed her own identity with the paparazzi, who frequently photograph the family.

At the festival, Bhatt spoke about staying grounded amid global recognition, referencing appearances at events such as Cannes and the Met Gala. “Authenticity is what connects me with the audience,” she said, explaining that true emotions resonate most. After high-profile events, she joked, she often returns home to eat pizza in her pyjamas.

The award adds to Bhatt’s growing international footprint as she continues balancing major film commitments in India with emerging global opportunities.
