Bengaluru Police Register FIR Against Shilpa Shetty-Linked Restaurant for Alleged Rule Violations

The Bengaluru Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the city outlet of Bastian, a high-end restaurant associated with actor and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty, for allegedly violating prescribed operating hours and hosting late-night activities beyond permitted limits.

According to police officials, the case was registered after the establishment on St. Mark’s Road was found operating until around 1.30 am on December 11, well past the closing time allowed under local regulations. The FIR has been lodged at the Cubbon Park Police Station, and restaurant managers and staff have been named in the complaint for purportedly breaching licence conditions.

Police sources said the action followed routine checks and complaints related to late-night operations in the central business district. “The matter is under investigation, and necessary legal steps will be taken based on the findings,” an official familiar with the case said. Authorities are examining whether the restaurant had the requisite permissions to operate beyond the stipulated hours and whether other norms were also violated.

Bastian is a well-known hospitality brand with outlets in Mumbai, Goa and Bengaluru, and is popular for its upscale dining and nightlife offerings. The Bengaluru outlet, located in a busy commercial area, attracts a large late-evening crowd, placing it under regular scrutiny by civic and police authorities.

The development comes amid recent changes within the Bastian brand. In September, reports had suggested that the restaurant’s flagship Bandra outlet in Mumbai was shutting down. Shilpa Shetty later clarified that the space was being reimagined as a South Indian restaurant, Ammakai, while Bastian was shifting operations to Juhu under a new concept, the Bastian Beach Club.

Officials emphasised that the current FIR pertains solely to the Bengaluru outlet and does not involve the actor personally. The case highlights ongoing enforcement efforts by city police to ensure compliance with licensing norms in Bengaluru’s hospitality sector, particularly concerning late-night operations and public order.
