Team did not take the trophy from Naqvi
India has won the Asia Cup title for the ninth time. After the victory, the Indian team refused to take the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi. Due to this, the medal ceremony was delayed by one hour.
Under pressure from Naqvi, the Indian team was not allowed to take the trophy from any other official either. After this, the Indian players celebrated without the trophy. Meanwhile, Naqvi had the trophy sent out of the ground.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav made a gesture in front of his teammates with empty hands as if he was bringing the trophy. The other players also celebrated considering this as the real trophy.
